Description
If the interpreter could be instructed to start/stop recording the script name and line numbers executed (persistent over multiple invokations) then this information could be used to show lines of test coverage (eg with colour highlighted lines, in a later version of SciTE).
If the coverage info was stored and formatted in a documented manner it would be possible for third parties to write presentation programs showing the percentage test coverage for multi-file projects and/or coverage highlighting plugins for other editors.
It may even be the case that there is a de-facto standard format that already suits a range of common editors? (I'm thinking eclipse here).
Please consider this. I think it's a big win for little effort ticket, and a logical next step after the unit test initiative (Wiki).
