Use the ternary operator that replaced it.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Hi guinness! nice to see you again! :) Just checked your new work, and I absolutely love it. I am thinking of making a script to replace _Iif in old script files with Ternary operator syntax :) as it was one of the frequent functions that I used.

well nothing till now

I saw these in my script 

$sSrc = _Iif(StringLeft($sSrc, 1) == "\", StringTrimLeft($sSrc, 1), $sSrc); remove \ from left
$sSrc = _Iif(StringInStr($sSrc, ":"), $sSrc, $s_Path & "\" & $sSrc); check if path is absolute or dynamic

and realized, I dont know how to parse out the actual arguments yet from these lines

I'm not sure what regex has to do with your examples...perhaps that regex is a better way to accomplish the string parsing you are doing?

As far as converting _Iif to using ternary op I think the following would suffice...(untested)

$sSrc = (StringLeft($sSrc, 1) == "\") ? StringTrimLeft($sSrc, 1) : $sSrc
$sSrc = (StringInstr($sSrc, ":")) ? $sSrc : $s_Path & "\" & $sSrc



edit: I think I get it...just realized you probably mean to write a script that uses regex to scrub and update your scripts that use _Iif.  Got it...pay not attention to me.  :P

The left side of the string is the start of the string.

The right side of the string is at the end of the string.

These three examples work.

You and I both misunderstood the OP.  He wanted update his scripts to use Ternary op instead, not look to recreate _Iif.  But I suppose that'll work if he wants a quick fix.

Dealing with two trains of thought here.  Quick fix is what Malkey suggested, coolness would be to use regex to update your scripts...but that is also beyond me.  I would opt for an easy fix.

This might also work. (untested)

You and I both misunderstood the OP.  He wanted update his scripts to use Ternary op instead, not look to recreate _Iif.  But I suppose that'll work if he wants a quick fix.

Dealing with two trains of thought here.  Quick fix is what Malkey suggested, coolness would be to use regex to update your scripts...but that is also beyond me.  I would opt for an easy fix.

This might also work. (untested)

Func _Iif($vExpression, $vTrue, $vFalse)
 Return ($vExpression) ? $vTrue : $vFalse
EndFunc

 

This one is the best workaround I guess, thanks!
