Hash Table max size ? please advise

I took the hash table from this thread, I wanted to know about the size of that table.

I want to use it in a program i made, this program runs 24/7 , there will be about 20000+ items in this table, will this consume alot of memory ?

edit: since i never used a hash table b4 i wanted to know if i need to load all of it when the program starts , then it build up the database in system memory ? and its stored in there untill the program ends ?

does any one have an idea?
