EarthTop: Dynamic Background

EarthTop is a dynamic background for Windows XP and Vista.

Every N hours (you define this), it will download an image off of one of two mirrors. This image will then be set as your background.

The background image is composed of a day/night map of the Earth, with real time clouds laid on top.

No sources included because this is a project I will actively work on.

Are the downloaded images generated from real-time satelite photos or are the clouds random?

All of the clouds are satellite generated, courtesy of xPlanet

UPDATED THE EXE FILE! I RECOMMEND YOUR REDOWNLOAD THIS IN ORDER TO FIX A BUG THAT OCCURRED WHEN STARTED ON LOGIN

Ok, was able to download it. I did notice it needs a _Singleton added top it...

edit: I get error Background failed to change. I am running Windows XP SP2, is this compatible for XP? I hate to ask this with all the hub-bub about asking for code but do you feel ok sharing the code so I can see why it is not working?

It should be compatible with Windows XP...

Is your internet connection active, and do you have AV blocking access to the internet?

Use Sendspace.com for your uploading. I don't have time to wait 60 seconds for rapidshare.com and 45 for megaupload.com.

This does nothing. It runs, has a tray icon, doesn't change my background, etc.

My internet connection is fine, have a cable connection and have not set av to block internet activity...

I will try using Sendspace, but I will have a link to my own site soon enough.

It won't update because it isn't enabled by deafult.

Odd that it doesn't work for you, gesller... I can send you the source if you would like.

It only changed my background to a black screen. It didn't change it to the image.

Look at post 10, looks like it does the same for Alienware.. It updates and downloads the file just errors out and won't change the background.. No big deal, just tought a look at the code might help. That is completely up to you if you want to post it or not.

Did you guys extract the files? The folders also need to exist.

Also, did you try hitting the Update Now button?

mine does update when I manually go into the image folder and read only attribute.. what does the up/dn do? when do we use it?

I have extracted the files, tested my internet connection, and clicked update now, nothing happens.

When you update, is a file created call "bg.jpg" created in the "images/backgroundTemp" folder?
