jpm Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Well that's odd... the release is 3.1.0.15, and the beta is 3.1.0.14. But the beta does have StringRegExp. Any idea what the difference is between .15 and .14? Cus I was just going for using whichever version was most recent.*Edit: Unfortunately, that also means that the version Holger has (with TrayMenu stuff) doesn't have StringRegExp. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I don't know what Holger did but for .14 and .15 it is reverse .15 does not contain StringRegExp as opposed to .14For the time being there is no beta available except for this StringRegExp which is .14 I guess Jon will correct the numbering with the next uploads

I'm happy to email any one or two to anyone who asks (I used to have a website for FTP, but I gave it up). I'm running Norton Anti-Virus, it updates automatically. so they should all be clean, but I make no guarantees. Guest Guidosoft Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 well, is it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>ouch. That hurts. STOP IT!!!lol.I don't even know regular expression language lol. Could someone teach it to me please?I don't get it. I DON'T GET IT!!! THIS IS TO HARD. JUST FORGET IT!!!!
Chris_1013 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 What's all this fuss about - If you want a version with Regular Expressions in, just fire up AutoUpdateIt and download the latest beta from that. Yes, the version number is .01 older than the released version, but I remember Jon saying the only difference was that he'd removed StringRegExp. There's nothing wrong with the numbering, it was just updated to reflect the fact the version was different.

This isn't a problem for myself, but people who want to make use of the regular expressions and still learn are having a problem. Plus I'd like to see a new beta come out with stuff like Holger's TrayMenu stuff. Then I can use both regexp, and traymenu functions.*Edit: Although thanks for pimping my program! Chris_1013 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Ahhh, dunno since I've never done anything with StringRegExp - it's all too confusing for me, and since I don't know what it does I don't know where I'd use it anyway Didn't know that the documentation is missing in .14 then though. Damn straight though, I can't wait to see new beta-edge. I want Tray Menu, Stdio capture etc. Plus I just like playing with new toys Oh yeah, and your program, just love it cos I'm a lazy arse and can't be bothered to find the download link for the beta each time. Rock on.
Nutster Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 As the guy creating/managing the regular expression stuff, I guess I should jump in here. Regular expressions are a method to define complicated patterns to be used in string matching, sort of like a super-StringInStr. There a few modes available at this time. True/false return: Just returns 1 (true) or 0 (false) depending on whether the given string matches the pattern given.String array return: Returns an array of captured text from the given string that matches groups in the pattern.Replacement (seperate function): Returns the given string, replacing sections that match the pattern with the given replacement text.More detailed explainations are in the docs, when they posted.
