thank you John,

for hard work.

i'm here to ask help. Try for a log time, to build an intelligent virtual keyboard

to help a little association of not 'full able' people.

i'm novice in autoit, but found this language and this forum, a wonderfull occasion to learn and help.

I'm here to ask you help to learn how to 'index' a vocaboulary text file (italian.txt)

and allow a virtual keyboard to 'Watch results dynamically change as you type in a query'

if this is possible.

Want to thank you all for help you give to all us newbie,

andrea

Hi Koshy,

Quick question or two. Firstly, are you using a skin such as XSkin to make the look? Or are you making it with your own images. How did you manage to get the Vista like listbox? And where is the indexed data stored?

James

Edit: Added another question.

love the way you check to see if your programs been tampered with lol :) cute add some more precautions such as the size of the file, date modified etc. :P

you may also want to add a scroll bar so that one can scroll through the files in case they dont know the full name.

edit~~

never thought to press the pretty button next to the search box :P

edit~~

it doesn't remove all traces of itself once uninstalled... CCleaner found this...

At the moment, I'm not in a position to actively help you in your efforts. I'll get back to you when I get the time. In the meanwhile, I suggest that you make full use of the help you can receive from the General Help and Support subforum.

I have never used XSkin. I created the whole thing with my own code and images - my starting point was the GUIGetCursorInfo function. If you are talking about the "listbox" displaying the dynamically changing results - it is not a listbox - just a collection of overlapping text and image controls. Indexed data is stored in your user profile application data directory.

It is interesting to note that you've actually arrived at a situation where the program recognized itself as tampered - something I do not condone. I guess I expected there to be a number of people who would love to hack away at it.

That key won't be removed as neoSearch is not the only program that I've created that uses that registry path as parent. I'm sure you'd have noted that it's an empty key if you browsed to it (provided none of my other software are installed, of course). I didn't consider a single key consisting of 4 letters to be a problem of any sort - if you are smart enough to have noted it, you'd be smart enough to remove it.

I can that wasnt the thing, I was saying, I never tampered with it, I was just trying to make it actually be more secure than what you have as a security issue :) add me to msn and we can talk - - - randy@get-fucked.net

  • 1 month later...

cant seem to select "options" on the application window ? So how do I uninstall?

I downloaded the latest version and am running on windows 2000.

I updated the program to take into account your case.

You can download it again from neoSearch download link.

You can either install it again and an 'Uninstall' shortcut will appear in your start menu OR

you can just run the NEW neoSearch.exe with the argument uninstall like follows:

neoSearch uninstall

It is very intriguing that you are unable to select 'options' - I've never gotten such a complaint before. Does neoSearch render like shown in the screenshot at the beginning of the thread? Is there anything special about the system you ran it on? Like are you using a roaming profile in a networked environment? Or are there other limitations on the system?

hehe really cool stuff man :P good work

Thanks... feedback is always few and far between when every works beautifully... otherwise, people just love to kick and scream at the slightest thing they don't like... Unless someone writes in with any problems, I think I'll discontinue work on it..

Koshy, why do you ignore many file types? I just downloaded neoSearch, and the first two searches I ran failed. The first one was an XML file and the second was a CSS file.

It seems logical that ALL file types should be included, since I don't think you can predetermine what files I am going to need to search for :P .

Or at least make it possible for me to toggle ALL file types ON as an option (if you are worried about performance or space or something).

Love the interface... Really like options....

Error at 96,1% of indexing HDD:

Posted Image

Can you help me with this?

My Sys:

-Windows XP SP2

-8 partitions on 2 real HDDs

I actually experienced this first hand on a computer abroad. But unfortunately I didn't have my source with me then to do diagnostics. Back home, I tried going through the code line by line but couldn't find any place where the error could have occured. If you are willing, I'll recompile a special diagnostic version for you. Contact me directly at koshyjohnuk [at] msn [dot] com

The most commonly used filetypes (about 40 of them) were included. It would be a huge performance hit if every single filetype was taken. I can easily add additional filetypes on request though. I'm going to add WPL, CSS, XML, C, CPP, JAVA, VBS as category two filetypes that will be indexed only if the user requests - most people don't search for these file types. There are many more - please place requests here.

How about to make it possible for the user to decide what files to search through, like the

normal windows search but with a fast and good looking neoSearch edition.

If you are talking about file types, I'm exploring the options available - you can suggest filetypes to be built in for now... If you are talking about file locations, you can set that through the options window.

If there are any other requests, please make them known to me at the earliest - I'm totally free right now. But not for all that very long.

Let me see

the first one is

Error at 96,1% of indexing HDD:

From what i see he has more file than the array can handle?? Yes, this is a very high possibility i dont know how your script work but this is a chance.

Tested you software in VMWARE in Windows XP SP2 to SP3 There is no problem at all

8 partitions on 2 real HDDs yes this may excess 655... array ? use an idea

Koshy, would you mind also adding a Category Three that includes ALL file types. Not only have I found a lot of files that I have (and use) that you don't index now - but new file types are being added every day. This way it becomes MY choice if I'm willing to accept any performance penalty that comes along with the option.

It is an array problem and that is what I have already checked. There is no correlation between the number of files and any of the arrays used. That is why I need to run diagnostics to pinpoint the line of code where the error occurs. And it seems so far impossible to replicate, which is why I need people who've encountered problems to run a diagnostic version (which I have not yet created).

Can do. I'll explore implementation possibilities and tweak my algorithm as required. If you wish to be notified when the update is released, please mail me or visit www.koshyjohn.com/downloads from time to time.
