the junk files tab...

how do i use it.

You select a drive, than you select the files types you want to search for and than hit the "analyze" button. Some files appear in the second list, you can choose to select them all and than hit the "clean" button. Edited by mrbond007

I wouldn't worry about making a simple version for the inexperienced. CCleaner already did it for you. It is very safe to use, but includes less features.

Cleans up IE including temporary files, cookies, and index.dat files

Cleans up windows explorer including recent documents

Cleans up the System including memory dumps and empties the recycle bin

Cleans up all of my applications (includes Firefox), don't know if it gets to 408 though.

Able to clean a nice list of registry entries

Uninstall list

Startup list

Cookies "white list" if you will

Custom include and exclude directories.

Doesn't meet up with yours (can't download, corrupt zip, so I don't really know), but makes a nice one for the basic user.

mrbond007 dont be discorred by this. this IS WAY better then CCleaner allready, for a start it cleans alot more but i think that the simple version should be a stand alone. AND did u every think about charging foor this i think that quite a few people would buy it. ITS AMAZING

Ok i will make 2 versions a simple and a complicated one, but since i'm busy this month my friends you'll have to wait ;)

Edit : I don't need to make money with Space Regain but if anyone likes to pay for it send the money to the AutoIt team, they need it harder than i do :)

Hi,

I think you should warn people this will disrupt Office installation, as it keeps trying to re-install something from original Office disk after running it. ; on 2 of 3 computers I tried; 1 restored by "Restore"; 1 restored from ghost.

too scared to try it agian; the one computer whre it worked OK, it seemed to be good;

Best, randall

this is caused by shellexecut-ing the uninstall string for some installed applications. I had this kind of problems before (probably a msi issue) but i'm currently working on a different uninstaller. it's too difficult to make a good one . Thanks you for the reply

Cheers

hi,

No, I don't think so.. I -only- ever ran [knowingly!]

1. Traces

2. Junk files

3. Registry Cleaner

4. [maybe XP Optimiser], -[unless that does some uninstall thing?]

which is why I was surprised, and thought there should be a warning?..

Best, Randall

i had this also on my xp machine before creating this script, and the problem stopped after 2 days. It was when i tried to uninstall a program that used the msi installer , and i don't know why it happend .

After some research here : http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost....80&SiteID=1

i found out that removing some invalid keys causes this (xp what a great product <_< ) and i decided to try other registry cleaners and the same thing happend again. this is definitely a microsoft NAG-FU add-on.

Note : this doesn't happens with windows Vista or 98

Thanks

Baki

I had a problem with my cleaner "XPClean Menu". I have a "Junk File Cleaner" also I found that I had no problems with my cleaner on my Microsoft office 2000. However in about 2003 Microsoft Office created a necessary .bak file within its directory. People using my cleaner were reporting problems with MS Office.

Man was that a hassle, it took forever to figure this one out.....

Depending on your MS Office "year", You can search for *.bak and find needed files!

and with one line of code in my deleting loop, it was fixed

If StringInStr($sLine, "Microsoft") Then ContinueLoop

I hope this is helpful to you now!!

I love the free space washer and have been wondering one thing....

How the heck does it work?

What exactly does it do, step by step.

Thx

you're right, i must skip some sensitive maps and some file types when working with newer and older versions of office and windows, to avoid this kind of problems. Thanks alot Val

Free space on your computer contains portions of old and previously deleted files and documents. the free space wahser cleans this area by making the files you deleted earlier unrecoverable. it creates a big file fills it with crap and than deletes the file.

That's cool. I wonder who thought of it. Was it a user on the autoit forum?
