Do it is possible to check if a script is launched from a editor?

Hi @Ontosy,

do you mean the script is launched as "script" or as compiled executable? If so, then have a look at @Compiled macro (macro reference help).
If not, then I misunderstood what do you exactly want to know? Why should it matter if the script is launched by SciTE, VSCode or by the AutoIt3.exe via command line?

Some scripts do not work if launched by an editor and I would like to set a warning.

You really should find out the real source of the issue and fix them.

How you compile to exe ?

Did you ensure about 32/64 bitness ?

I not compile!

I open a script.au3 in AkelPad editor.

script.au3 have:
 

ProcessClose("AkelPad.exe")
MsgBox(0, "Test", "Ok")

I press F5 to launch and test it.

The MsgBox not Fire.

It fire instead if I launch with AutoIt3.exe

You can not kill parrent process.

Why you want to kill editor from which you run your code ?

So we are not talking about SciTE here but rather a different editor?

Yes, check _WinAPI_GetParentProcess() in the helpfile.

That question is simple, yes, check out: https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/libfunctions/_WinAPI_GetParentProcess.htm

You can use that and loop through to keep getting parents until you're happy that you've found what launched the script. I imagine it should be something like: Script PID -> AutoIt.exe parent -> Editor.exe grandparent -> explorer.exe -> system

It's up to you to determine how you want to handle that, but for just finding out where a process came from, this is probably the best option (that comes to my mind at least).

I still think that you can not kill parrent process, this should be obvious (generally in Windows OS), but I can be wrong as I never check such possibility.
