Webdriver Performance testing

Hi 

 

I'd like to write some performance tests and would like timings for how long a webpage takes to load? 

What is the best way to do this? 

Is there a function that times how long the page takes to load?

Are you wanting to run standard website performance tests or are you specifically targeting Webdriver to determine the overhead of using this technology? FWIW, there isn't anything in the Webdriver UDF for testing performance.

@mLipokIMO, that is way too simplistic to get accurate results, especially when dealing with websites that load contents in the background.

What is considered "loaded"? Should that be based on the value of document.readyState or some other criteria?

I was hoping to usethe WD_WaitElement function would be able to attempt to time how long it takes to appear via a loop? 

 _WD_WaitElement($sSession, $sStrategy, $sSelector, $iDelay = Default, $iTimeout = Default, $lVisible = Default, $lEnabled = Default)

 

Would this be accurate?

I would do it like this --

• Start your timer
• Perform navigation, link click, etc.
• Use _WD_LoadWait for detecting initial page load
• Use _WD_WaitElement to wait for specific element to appear
• Capture elapsed time
