Moving to EDGE after IE shutdown

Hello @Danp2,

First of all, I would like to thanks all AutoIT teams for keep supporting the AutoIT community.

We are having issue with with AutoIT with the retirement of IE. Like IE function (_IE_Attach) was used to work with the already open session of IE. But now as IE is no more functional, so is there any way to use IE mode within edge with existing IE AutoIT script, because from your forum and FAQ I used webdriver setup but when it comes to scripting part I am failing in it because I think it is kind of difficult to work with the running session of edge.
So is there any way to work with edge (IE mode enabled with existing script) ??

Hi @Muheet,

Attaching to an existing browser instance is definitely more challenging with Webdriver. There are prior discussions on this topic as well as some details on the wiki. I know that @mLipokhas recently converted from IE >> Webdriver, so he may be able to add some insight to this discussion.

Please take a look here.

There is Edge_GetIE()  function to connect to DOM of IE within Edge.

Can we do the same here ?

@mLipokI imagine you could do the same thing in Autoit, but it isn't something that I plan to investigate. 😉

I used AutoIT recorder to record my actions and even with EDGE browser is working fine with small changes in code.
