Jemboy
What would be the best way to implement the Chromedriver update ? _WD_UpdateDriver($sBrowser, $sInstallDir = Default, $bFlag64 = Default, $bForce = Default, $bDowngrade = Default) Should I set $bForrce=True and $bDowngrade=True at the same time , to update Chromedriver automatically to the newest version, but downgrade it also automatically if my browserversion has not updated yet ? Jemboy
I just updated some of my programs. First I find out the version of my browsern and the webdriver. $DriverVer =_WD_GetWebDriverVersion(@ScriptDir, 'chromedriver.exe') $BrowserVer = _WD_GetBrowserVersion('chrome') And if $BrowserVer > $DriverVer I then do the following update: _WD_UpdateDriver('Chrome', Default, Default, True) However I am not completely satisfied with this solution: In case the webdriver is really old (old program has not been used for months), the update seems to fail. If the webdriver is not in the scriptdir, the returned version is "zero", however the the above update won't download the webdriver file. I am "strunggling" to find the right "firstdownload" and the right update routine for older webdriver installs.
Danp2
@Jemboy Comparing the browser version to the webdriver version probably isn't the best technique (IE: until recently, there wasn't always an exact match of Chrome / Chromedriver versions). You would need to provide detailed logs to better understand why the update isn't being performed in the two scenarios you mentioned. My priority for know is to get all my programs using webdriver to do't break when Chrome is updated to v115.x.x.x in the next day 🙂@mLipokDo I understand your proposal right: if the Chromve version is smaller then 115.0.0.0 then it will be considered "chrome_legacy" and handled diffirently by the update process ? Before I start using the updater from the UDF, I used to update the webdriver by creating the URL using the version number of the browser. Danp2
@Jemboy If you check out the release notes for this UDF, you will find this recent entry -- Quote Temporarily added chrome_legacy to support older versions (pre v115) of Chrome The expectation is that everyone will soon be on v115 or later, so the need for "chrome_legacy" is short term and it will be removed sooner than later. In the mean time, you will need to use it if you want to use _WD_UpdateDriver with older versions of Chrome. mLipok
I think this script require to have SingleFile extension installed. I hope that I can use this extension to save webpage as SingleFile (file MHT like) directly from my script. If it needs to inject this entire JavaScript into a webpage then I wonder how to do that. But at first step I wonder if I can just create one big JavaScript String and use them in single _WD_ExecuteScript() call. NassauSky
Hi @Danp2, I was zipping up a new project for emailing. Chromedriver.exe normally has to be deleted to send through email. After doing so I unzipped on a new PC and now _WD_UpdateDriver seems to have lost the ability to download the latest Chrome driver. Is this a server problem where Chrome Drivers are hosted? I'm getting this in console: _WD_UpdateDriver: DriverCurrent = 0 : DriverLatest = _WD_UpdateDriver: Error = 1 : Result = False _WD_UpdateDriver ==> General Error [1] So in short. I tested on another older project and deleted the chromedriver.exe and now _WD_UpdateDriver('Chrome', $RequiredFolder, True, True) doesn't automatically download the the chromedriver.exe when missing. Thanks for any tips or suggestions. Edited July 28, 2023 by NassauSky
