SupremeNTM
Hi all, I'm new to AutoIt and I need help to know if what I'm trying to achieve is doable. I will formulate the steps the most simple way since I don't really know all the functions available. 1) Run the software 2) Press tab twice 3) If the selection is an Input Box, write "this" else do something else In bold that's what I'm looking for: Is there a function that can tell if what I have selected with the tab keys is an Input box or something where I can write some text? Please help. I've been digging around in the forum but I can't find anything. Thanks!
careca
Maybe, another option would be to write directly into the inputbox, or maybe checking for it's existance, but using the control id, if it returns an id. Spoiler Renamer - Rename files and folders, remove portions of text from the filename etc. GPO Tool - Export/Import Group policy settings. MirrorDir - Synchronize/Backup/Mirror Folders BeatsPlayer - Music player. Params Tool - Right click an exe to see it's parameters or execute them. String Trigger - Triggers pasting text or applications or internet links on specific strings. Inconspicuous - Hide files in plain sight, not fully encrypted. Regedit Control - Registry browsing history, quickly jump into any saved key. Time4Shutdown - Write the time for shutdown in minutes. Power Profiles Tool - Set a profile as active, delete, duplicate, export and import. Finished Task Shutdown - Shuts down pc when specified window/Wndl/process closes. NetworkSpeedShutdown - Shuts down pc if download speed goes under "X" Kb/s. IUIAutomation - Topic with framework and examples Au3Record.exe
Subz
As careca mentioned, identify the control id using the AutoIt Window Tool, you can then use something like ControlSend to add data to the control.
SupremeNTM
I just checked the window with the AutoIt Window Tool, it doesn't detect anything on the window that I want to navigate through, so I don't think I can use the Control ID. That's why I'm using the "TAB" key to go the to input box that I want.

I just checked the window with UISpy, and it seems that the input box I want to use doesn't have an id but its ControlType is ControlType.Edit, the other clickable objects on the window are ControlType.Button. Is there a function in AutoIt that allows to find if the object selected is ControlType.Edit?
FrancescoDiMuro
@SupremeNTM As stated previousely in the post, if you already tried with Control* functions with no success, then the other possible way is to use UIAutomation, as junkew pointed you out Click here to see my signature: Spoiler ALWAYS GOOD TO READ: Forum Rules Forum Etiquette
