Zedna
IE UDF - works with Edge? I ask because Internet Explorer support will end next year definitelly and only Edge (based on Chromium core) will remain the only one web browser from Microsoft ... Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted August 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2020 IE UDF is IE. For edge you're going to need to go UIAutomation or WebDriver. Nine
It is like Win7. Even if the support ended quite a bit ago, I am still using it without problem. IE will be the same, you will be able to use it for few years after end of support as long as the Web site you are automating allows the usage of IE. Zedna
It's question if IE UDF should be bundled in AutoIt as standard UDF since next year as IE will change it's status to OBSOLETE (without security patches) ... Nine
I don't think it should be removed from the bundle. Like I said, it will take few years before IE gets so obsolete that it will become of no use. I say keep it. “They did not know it was impossible, so they did it” ― Mark Twain Spoiler Block all input without UAC Save/Retrieve Images to/from Text Monitor Management (VCP commands) Tool to search in text (au3) files Date Range Picker Virtual Desktop Manager Sudoku Game 2020 Overlapped Named Pipe IPC HotString 2.0 - Hot keys with string x64 Bitwise Operations Multi-keyboards HotKeySet Recursive Array Display Fast and simple WCD IPC Multiple Folders Selector Printer Manager GIF Animation (cached) Screen Scraping Multi-Threading Made Easy
Jury
In my area of interest there are starting to be websites that don't work properly using IE:
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted August 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2020 Perhaps something we pull over to the MVP forum, and a larger conversation on whether UDFs should follow the deprecation schedule of the product they are written for, or some other way to keep them around for legacy use while not necessarily bundling with the main install.
