looking for alternative to pixelsearch

Recommended Posts

looking for a way to click something when something's popped up, pixelsearch has been what i'm using but i'm looking to go a bit more advanced wondering if there's a way to maybe map the pop up? for instance if i had a pop up saying "OK" and "Close" i'd want it to click "Ok" but i don't want to use a pixel search or specific coordinates, would like the script to recognize the boxes as "Ok" and "Close" is that possible or am i reaching out of bounds?

Depends on the application you are trying to automate.  More infos are needed at this point.

i don't have a script written up for any program i deleted my old script  because i was brainstorming this idea. was wondering if it was possible.

If you want to automate "expected pop-ups" then it is quite easy (depending on the application you want to automate).
Unexpected pop-ups (like error messages etc.) are much harder to automate.

So, as always, it depends ;)

1. Start notepad.exe or calc.exe from script read help on run and runwait

2. check faq31. Start with au3inf to see what is shown.

3. Use send to type text or controlclick to click

4. Click file menu and save to have popup. See what au3inf is telling you.

5. Do above to really understand the concepts before continuing with other applications.
