Professor_Bernd
Hello dear ones. I am currently working on my project "PSPad4AutoIt3" to make PSPad fit as Editor/IDE for AutoIt. My project is in a very early stage and I tried to see if it has a chance. I talked (wrote) a lot with users from the DE AutoIt forum, the PSPad forum and with the developer of PSPad Jan Fiala. Everyone was very friendly and supported my project. Many thanks to them. Here in the EN AutoIt forum I found many things that helped me. Thanks a lot for that. (I found so much that I didn't have to ask anything so far. ... But now I will ask a lot and become an active member! (20 postings)) 😁 My first question is about permission to use code. In my project I use e.g. AutoIt3Wrapper, or code I found here in the forum from Jos, Melba23, Martin, ProgAndy, Yashied, ... and many, many more. Even though some users have given general permission, for example in Melba23's signature, I find it polite to ask here. So here's my question, who I can contact, e.g. to use the SciTE code, like AutoIt3Wrapper. (I guess Jos?) Thank you very much! Regards, Bernd. seadoggie01
Hi Professor Bernd, and welcome! From these threads, we get that it is okay to use code found on the forums, but there are no licenses for any of the code posted without something in their signature. It is general etiquette to give credit by mentioning the author... usually I see it in the function header something like this: ; Author ........: Melba23, Jos, water ; Modified.......: Professor Bernd I am quite sure that Jos maintains AutoIt3Wrapper... you may want to send him a message or '@' him here. I think he doesn't want the AutoIt3Wrapper distributed... I'll edit if I can find that thread Quote The AutoIt3Wrapper is part of the ful SciTE4AutoIt3 setup and also needs other directories in the SciTE dir like Tidy and au3stripper.I prefer that there are no other installers installing stuff into the SciTE subdirectory as that will only confuse things and make mixing both setups collide. There is nothing wrong to state in your tool that a prerequisite for it is to install SciTE4AutoI3 and have them happily live side by side. Professor_Bernd
Hi seadoggie01. Thanks for the welcome and all the good info! I looked at the links you posted and some I look at when I am an "active member". For the codes found in this forum I give of course gladly credit by mentioning the author. 2 hours ago, seadoggie01 said: I am quite sure that Jos maintains AutoIt3Wrapper... you may want to send him a message or '@' him here. I think he doesn't want the AutoIt3Wrapper distributed... That is no problem. I have no intention to distribute code from the AutoIt or SciTE/SciTE4AutoIt3 folders. I just want to use the code. @Jos Hi Jos. My intention is like this: On 1/6/2017 at 10:25 AM, Jos said: ... state in your tool that a prerequisite for it is to install SciTE4AutoI3 and have them happily live side by side. In my PSPad4AutoIt3 project I have the following structure, which I also describe there. - Install AutoIt3 - Install SciTE4AutoIt3 - Unzip PSPad portable - Unpack my improvement kit and copy it into the PSPad folder (before you start PSPad4AutoIt3 for the first time to keep it protable). My works are in the improvement kit and only refer to PSPad and are located in the PSPad folder. No AutoIt- or SciTE-folder is touched, no file is added or changed. My improvement kit only uses the files, for example for "Run", "Compile", "Check", etc. like an IDE does. I hope that's okay. Bernd. Edited November 3, 2019 by Professor_Bernd Link corrected. Good to know. 3 hours ago, Jos said: I am fine with other using as long as it is credited and people don't expect support from me. Thank you very much. The project is still in a very early stage, and my head is full of ideas and I have little experience with such a public project. The publication needs care, the project needs organization on my hard drive (and in my head), and then there is the "little" programming of the Improvement Kit. That's a lot for an old man. For the credits, I think I'll put a spoiler on the forum page of the project with the credits. And I can also set up a readme.txt with credits in the Improvement Kit. Is that okay?
