SciTE DblClick select all text between " " or ' '

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to easily select all the text within " " or ' '?

Double clicking text auto-selects between the " " if there are no spaces or special characters but I'm hoping for something to force DoubleClick to select everything between the text markers.

I've tried Ctrl+DoubleClick; Shift+DoubleClick; Alt+DoubleClick and there doesn't seem to be a way to do it.

It's always kinda bugged me, but I've been asked to build a crazy large gui, and i'm copy/pasting large amounts of code and renaming labels and it's getting annoying having to Click,drag to select the label text to change it.

Thanks,

Mike

Just add this to PersonalTools.lua:

function PersonalTools:SelectQuoatedText()
    local from = 0
    local   to = 0
    for i = editor.CurrentPos, editor:PositionFromLine(editor.CurrentPos), -1 do
        -- Make sure we don't count brackets in strings.
        if editor.StyleAt[i] ~= SCE_AU3_STRING then
            from = i+3
            break
        end
    end
    for i = editor.CurrentPos, editor.LineEndPosition[editor.CurrentPos] do
        -- Make sure we don't count brackets in strings.
        if editor.StyleAt[i] ~= SCE_AU3_STRING then
            to = i
            break
        end
    end
    editor:SetSel(from - 1, to -1)
end

and something like this to SciTEUser.properties:

#Select total string between "" or ''
command.name.41.$(au3)=SelectQuoatedText
command.mode.41.$(au3)=subsystem:lua,savebefore:no
command.shortcut.41.$(au3)=Ctrl+Shift+l
command.41.$(au3)=InvokeTool PersonalTools.SelectQuoatedText

and change the shortcut to something you like. This one has Ctrl+Shift+L.
Now just put the carret somewhere in the quoted string and pres the shortcut.

Took a while to find my PersonalTools.lua ...

(Brief info for other users)

The default version of PersonalTools.lua is located in SCITE_USERHOME  (a modified SciTEUser.properties can be found there as well). The current setting for SCITE_USERHOME will be displayed in the first lines of the SciTE console when running a script (F5), i.e. : SCITE_USERHOME => C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\AutoIt v3\SciTE

@BigDaddyO
There was a time when I had a similar problem and I solve them manually :(
So I understand your needs.

I remember that here on the forum was a LUA script for SciTE that popup CALLTIP after mouse over.
Quick search and:

I'm interested if this MouseHover can be combined with @Jos above solution and if it will help you more ?

Here is a version that is a little cleaner. It checks whether it is inside a string and some comments added:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Select all quoted Text.  ( All text between "" or '')
function PersonalTools:SelectQuoatedText()
    local from = 0
    local   to = 0
    -- Check whether we are inside a string.
    if editor.StyleAt[editor.CurrentPos] ~= SCE_AU3_STRING then
        print("! Cursor isn't inside a string.")
        return
    end
    -- find start of the string
    for i = editor.CurrentPos, editor:PositionFromLine(editor.CurrentPos), -1 do
        if editor.StyleAt[i] ~= SCE_AU3_STRING then
            from = i + 2
            break
        end
    end
    -- find end of the string
    for i = editor.CurrentPos, editor.LineEndPosition[editor.CurrentPos] do
        if editor.StyleAt[i] ~= SCE_AU3_STRING then
            to = i - 1
            break
        end
    end
    -- select total string
    editor:SetSel(from, to)
end
