You guys are all awesome, I have learned so much throughout the last year or so just researching and interacting with folks on this forum. Love AutoIt. What I am trying to do here is come up with some sort of flagging system between computers. What I mean by that is, a way for one computer to send a message to another computer that something has happened/stopped happening. I install POS systems, and basically I have a server that needs to be able to send signals out to the client terminals. Currently, the way I am doing this is by creating/deleting text files in a shared folder that all computers see. Programs on the clients are in a loop until this file exists, and when the condition is met, they go into another loop until either that file no longer exists, or a new file is created. This is extremely unreliable however, especially in systems with more than two devices...it often locks up the text files and makes them not removable because they're "in use". I realize this is likely because there are so many things trying to get a hold of it at once. I imagine there must be a much better solution out there someone has thought of...does anyone have any ideas?? I'm not sure where to go next with this. This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.Another excellent RegExp tutorial. This is a very simple way to exchange messages in an Clients/Server approach. All depends how your have designed your message protocol, which we do not know.
