myspacee Posted June 30, 2019 Share Posted June 30, 2019 Hello, try to help at work building a script capable to view PDF from intranet repository. The problem is filenaming; my script solve this problem but i want to show PDF to my user, using Autoit GUI. Read and test mLipok work but it doesn't work well. At first run, script show an error, solved resizing manually the GUI. I read about free activex, but can't install other PDF reader over 200 and more PCs on my workplaces scattered throughout the territory. I need to show PDF and allow copy/paste text, so i can't show JPG of page. Anyone can suggest a solution to show PDF on AI GUI ? Thank you for your time, m. The script below is a quick and dirty example of what I'm talking about. (just done a quick test and not an in depth testing, thus possible bugs could arise), of course making use of the PDFObject javascript should give more control over the embedded pdf. Hope it can be of use for you. expandcollapse popup#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <FileConstants.au3> Example() Func Example() Local $sPDF_path Local $Gui = GUICreate("PDF Viewer", 900, 600) GUISetBkColor(0xa0d0a0) Local $oIE_Obj = ObjCreate("Shell.Explorer.2") ; Instantiate a BrowserControl GUICtrlCreateObj($oIE_Obj, 5, 5, 780, 590); Place the BrowserControl on the GUI $oIE_Obj.navigate('about:blank') Local $hButtonLoad = GUICtrlCreateButton("Load pdf", 795, 5, 100, 295) Local $hButtonExit = GUICtrlCreateButton("Exit", 795, 300, 100, 295) GUISetState() While 1 $idMsg = GUIGetMsg() Select Case $idMsg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE ExitLoop Case $idMsg = $hButtonLoad ; Display an open dialog to select a pdf document. $sPDF_path = FileOpenDialog("select a pdf document", @ScriptDir & "\", "pdf (*.pdf)", $FD_FILEMUSTEXIST) If Not @error Then $oIE_Obj.Stop() ; stop loadinh (if any in progress) $oIE_Obj.document.Write(MakeHTML($sPDF_path)) ; inject lising directly to the HTML document $oIE_Obj.document.execCommand("Refresh") EndIf Case $idMsg = $hButtonExit ExitLoop EndSelect WEnd GUIDelete() EndFunc ;==>Example Func MakeHTML($sPdfPath = '') Local $sHTML = '<html>' & @CRLF & _ '<head>' & @CRLF & _ '<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />' & @CRLF & _ '</head>' & @CRLF & _ '<body>' & @CRLF & _ '<div class="container">' & @CRLF & _ ' <div class="pdf">' & @CRLF & _ ' <object data="' & $sPdfPath & '" type="application/pdf" width="100%" height="100%">' & @CRLF & _ ' <iframe src="' & $sPdfPath & '" width="100%" height="100%" style="border: none;">' & @CRLF & _ ' This browser does not support PDFs. NassauSky Posted October 17, 2023 Share Posted October 17, 2023 That looks real nice but doesn't display anything after selecting the PDF. Has anything changed in the IE rendering engine since 2019? If so would you suggest any fixes if aware? Thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Andreik Posted October 17, 2023 Share Posted October 17, 2023 Why don't you use directly an AcroPDF object instead of embedding PDFs in IE? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
NassauSky Posted October 18, 2023 Share Posted October 18, 2023 Thing is when I installed the latest Acrobat Reader it didn't install a version with the API. Still looking to find a workable version of adobe Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Andreik Posted October 18, 2023 Share Posted October 18, 2023 Try this: $oPDF = ObjCreate("AcroPDF.PDF.1") ConsoleWrite('AcroPDF object creation: ' & (IsObj($oPDF) = True) & @CRLF) $oPDF.src = <path to your pdf> $oPDF.setShowToolbar(0) $oPDF.setShowScrollbars(0) $oPDF.setView('Fit') $oPDF.setLayoutMode('SinglePage') $oPDF.setPageMode('None') $hMain = GUICreate('Test', 1280, 720) GUICtrlCreateObj($oPDF, 0, 0, 1280, 720) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW, $hMain) Do Until GUIGetMsg() = -3 NassauSky 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
NassauSky Posted October 18, 2023 Share Posted October 18, 2023 (edited) Thanks @Andreik!! Great now I have 2 options: OPTION 1) Yours which I'd need to install acrobat reader all over (just a note that confused me. Installing the free Adobe Acrobat Reader does actually install the API components though I didn't actually see a clear folder where they resided) $oPDF = ObjCreate("AcroPDF.PDF.1") If Not IsObj($oPDF) Then MsgBox(16, "Error", "Failed to create AcroPDF object") Exit EndIf ConsoleWrite('AcroPDF object creation: ' & (IsObj($oPDF) = True) & @CRLF) $oPDF.src = @ScriptDir & "\MyFile.pdf" $oPDF.setShowToolbar(0) $oPDF.setShowScrollbars(0) $oPDF.setView('Fit') $oPDF.setLayoutMode('SinglePage') $oPDF.setPageMode('None') $hMain = GUICreate('Test', 1280, 720) GUICtrlCreateObj($oPDF, 0, 0, 1280, 720) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW, $hMain) Do Until GUIGetMsg() = -3 OPTION 2) I can use the the existing PDF through an IE object: expandcollapse popup#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <FileConstants.au3> #include <IE.au3> Example() Func Example() Local $sPDF_path Local $Gui = GUICreate("PDF Viewer", 900, 600) GUISetBkColor(0xa0d0a0) ;Local $oIE_Obj = ObjCreate("Shell.Explorer.2") ; Instantiate a BrowserControl Local $oIE_Obj = _IECreateEmbedded() GUICtrlCreateObj($oIE_Obj, 5, 5, 780, 590); Place the BrowserControl on the GUI $oIE_Obj.navigate('about:blank') Local $hButtonLoad = GUICtrlCreateButton("Load pdf", 795, 5, 100, 295) Local $hButtonExit = GUICtrlCreateButton("Exit", 795, 300, 100, 295) GUISetState() While 1 $idMsg = GUIGetMsg() Select Case $idMsg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE ExitLoop Case $idMsg = $hButtonLoad ; Display an open dialog to select a pdf document. $sPDF_path = FileOpenDialog("select a pdf document", @ScriptDir & "\", "pdf (*.pdf)", $FD_FILEMUSTEXIST) If Not @error Then $oIE_Obj.Stop() ; stop loading (if any in progress) $oIE_Obj.navigate($sPDF_path) EndIf Case $idMsg = $hButtonExit ExitLoop EndSelect WEnd GUIDelete() EndFunc ;==>Example Edited October 18, 2023 by NassauSky Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Andreik Posted October 18, 2023 Share Posted October 18, 2023 Acrobat Reader is installed on almost every PC but it's always good to have a fallback option. NassauSky 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
