Hello everyone. 

 

I want to make a topic for beginners. About how to use SciTE. 

 

I will give my tips. But i am very very far from knowing it good enouth. 

 

What powerfull tips do you got for me ? i would take all kind of tips advise... etc.. 

 

One exemple :

If you make that Tooltip disapear how do you make it apear again? 

From my own usage i would just put an other left bracket but i have to manage some keystroke after that to keep it .  

 

You guys got some tips like that one ?

For beginners and advanced peoples.

Are you using the Lite version or the Full version from the extra installer?
They both have  shortcut that you can find in the Helpfile  or under Edit in the menu , and the latter also will auto appear when you type a comma for the next parameter. 

I also would appreciate when you start trying to write names in the correct way like mentioned before!

Ah, about the tool tip just noticed i can do Shift + CTRL + Space

I would prefer when we tell people to use the Full version when they really want to do serious scripting as that has soo many advantages!

Yes.... and please do not tell me this is a new thing for you?  

If so I would advise you to install that now and play with it for a couple of weeks before making any tutorial to ensure you have all the right knowledge to deliver a good product.

Nop it is not a new thing for me. 

Just I never use advanced SciTe Features. 

i"m just making this topic because I dont want to miss somthing. 

 

I planning to do same before each video. So we will be able to share them to help peoples with demonstrations.

Actually I am learning SciTE advanced features.

The SciTE video will come much much later.

And of course... I will teach only what I know...

How can I do the oposite anyway ?

Long time ago had the same problem.
I did not have the knowledge, but I wanted to learn and by the way, I wanted to do something useful for the community.
Now I have much more knowledge but I have too many professional duties, so I do not have as much time for the community as I wanted.

As I can see @caramen  acts prudently, first asks, gathers knowledge, creates youtube Video, modifies it on a regular basis, but at the same time, other members should to teach and admonish him, what needs to be improved in his project, which he shares with us.

I think we should praise his work, because what he does, he tries to do it right.

I only hope that @caramen will keep improving his video content according to the good advice that he has already received and I hope that he will receive in the future.

Not intending to derail the topic completely, but I will say I agree @mLipok, we are all here because we want to contribute. Just seems more prudent to learn something for yourself first and be comfortable with it before trying to teach others. Based on the first comment in this thread, it sounded like the OP was going to attempt to teach while learning himself, which rarely goes well. There was another "All you could ever want to know about subject X" thread started not too long ago where the OP then spent the first couple of pages fixing it due to responses from others pointing out how mistaken he was in some of his beliefs on the subject.

If the intent, as stated is just the "how to download, install, etc." perhaps that is something to add to the FAQs on the Wiki

Agree... and let's see what will happen next.

You know my English is not as good as yours.  I think OP has the same problem.
Therefore, with all due respect, I decided to take him into "light defense", as I remember that I had various problems myself.

btw.

I think that as so far, nobody here (in this topic) has a reason to regret, just everyone is trying to do good things, but in different ways.

The wiki is just perfect dont worry :).

But assuming... the prefered way of majority of users to learn is to see and learn at same time. This is why I do this. I dont even seek like/suscrib thing. I am out of youtube comunity.

 

What can i say else that agree. And of course, logic. Etc...
