Monitoring a web page for real time update

I need to monitor a data driven website for whenever certain text appears in one of its frames.

i need autoit to continuously look on the page for the text saying “new opportunity’, and when it’s found, to click the link provided in that text.

it needs to happen in real time.

It's possible to do it with AutoIt...

But you have to put some effort in it, so, start to look at _IE* functions to interact with IE.

I've not used AutoIt, but I am familiar with software development.  I just wanted to see if this could work, before spending too much time on it.
