Does AutoIt offer the data structure "hash" like in Perl?

Hello,

once again, I ran into the need for hashes like in Perl, see here. I have found references for using a hash value in AutoIt, but it seems to me that this more like a checksum and not the data structure I am looking for. Does AutoIt actually offer the data structure "hash"?

Or, more specifically: I have an array with many strings, where each string is associated with an index number. I am receiving a string as an input and I want to immediately have the corresponding index number that is associated with that string in the array. Right now, I am reading though the array, and when the input string matches the string in the array, I output the corresponding index number. With Perl I used hashes to do this very easily.

Thank you!

Cheers

Thanks, and I understand why I did not find that: I searched for "hashes data structure", but the password was "hash data structure" o:)

But, uhm, no, I may not fully understand that discussion. (And "hash array" seems to me like "water fire". ;))

So, is "map" the AutoIt name for "hash" or is this term explicitly used to express a difference over a hash? And it is only in the beta? Whenever I need help with AutoIt, I go to AutoIt Docs. But I don't find "maps" there, because it's beta? And this post seems to suggest it's still work in progress, well at least 1.5 years ago? So, I guess for me, being able to live with my for-loop, hashes in AutoIt are still in the future. :'( Again, thanks.

Search here for associative array, or scripting.dictionary.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

FYI the last AutoIt beta supports a new datatype, Map, which is probably what you're after. This beta is quuite stable by now.
