jazzyjeff Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Hey All, Just curious for those that deploy operating systems with SCCM, how long does it take for the deployment to complete? We are seeing just over an hour, but there are complaints that this is too long, and I'm just not sure that it is. I think the time it is taking is pretty acceptable. I'd love to hear back from others who deploy Windows 10 or 7 even, with SCCM and how long the deployments take. Thanks, Jeff
BrewManNH Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 My company uses SCCM to image computers, it can take several hours depending upon what's being installed, network speed, network load. So, an hour isn't that bad. Even when I used Ghost or Acronis from a local hard drive it could still take an hour or 2. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted January 12, 2018 Moderators Posted January 12, 2018 Agreed, even with customers of mine that take the time to include only what they need in their WIN7/10 images, OSD can be an hour to two depending on throughput. Customers, of course, will always want immediate - if it is a big issue you might consider just having hot-swap spares available. Profiles transfer a lot more quickly than images. TheSaint Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 You might get more views and thus more responses if you get this topic relocated to the Operating System Deployment section of the forum, with maybe a link back here. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted January 12, 2018 Moderators Posted January 12, 2018 Quite so; I responded and didn't even notice the location of the topic. Moved to the appropriate forum.
