Correct way of setting gui Label value

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Can someone spot what am I doing wrong here?

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <StaticConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 615, 437, 192, 124)
$Label1 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Label1", 184, 160, 36, 17)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

;Global value settings
GUICtrlSetData($Label1, '8') ;<-- change label value here to '8'
ConsoleWrite($Label1)
Sleep(3000) ;just to see it in the UI

I am trying to change the label to display a value '8', but it displays '3' in the Consolewrite instead.

@Laurynelis it shows 8 for me. Have you tried adjusting the width on your label control? Perhaps with your resolution you're cutting it off.

Sorry, bad interpretation of question.

ConsoleWrite($Label1)

displays 3, and trying to append 'v ' text

GUICtrlSetData($Label1, 8) ;<-- change label value here to '8'
GUICtrlSetData($Label1, 'v '&$Label1)

displays 'v 3' instead of 'v 8'

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <StaticConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 615, 437, 192, 124)
$Label1 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Label1", 184, 160, 36, 17)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

;Global value settings
GUICtrlSetData($Label1, 8) ;<-- change label value here to '8'
GUICtrlSetData($Label1, 'v '&$Label1) ;append prefix 'v '
ConsoleWrite($Label1)
Sleep(2000)

Laurynelis,

Quote

it displays '3' in the Consolewrite

You need to use GUICtrlRead to get the value of the control - at present you are getting the ControlID of the label control itself.

ConsoleWrite(GUICtrlRead($Label1))

M23

And why this displays 'v 3' instead of 'v 8' ?

Because you didn't read the responses prior to yours. Reread them now.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
