Unable to click on element having ONLY class

Hi Techies,

Once again I am seeking your expertise here. I am unable to click on a "Add" button which has only class.

I tried all the ways starting from searching withing tags to _IELinkClickbyText/Id but nothing is working. Can anyone help?

I'm not familiar with IE.au3 but if you can send javascript commands, the way to press the first element with class "f1" is like so:

document.getElementsByClassName("f1")[0].click();

_IELinkClickbyText is for a link. You can use _IETagNameGetCollection to retrieve the list of all "div" elems, and check for each if its .className and .outerText matches with "f1" and "Add" :

Local $oDivs = _IETagNameGetCollection($oIE, "div")

For $oDiv In $oDivs
    If $oDiv.ClassName = "f1" Then And $oDiv.outerText = "Add" Then _IEAction($oDiv, "click")
Next

 

Also, like @DarkFingers1337 said, you can use getElementsByClassName (it returns a collection of elements) :

Local $oElems = $oIE.document.getElementsByClassName("f1")
For $oElem In $oElems
    _If $oElem.outerText = "Add" Then _IEAction($oElem, "click")
Next

To make it easy, you can use _IEgetobjbyclassname(), to select the index of the element :

Thanks a ton DarkFingers1337 & jguinch.. Both the solutions works. I mean I am able to click on the "Add" button now. But, I am not able to submit the content. This is BMC Remedy tool and its giving me error "Required field (without a default) not specified : Notes: (ARERR 9424)". I seriously don't have any idea how to tackle this and I am kinda stuck with my project. Any assistance would be highly appreciable.

@mLipok - Can you please explain IMHO Queryselector?

So what I have found about this error is that the element (Textbox) is not recognizing the content and treating it as Blank.

Required field (without a default) not specified.
Description:

During submission of a request, no value was supplied for the required field. The field does not have a default value, so a value must be supplied during the submit operation.

Perform one of these actions:

* Supply a value for this field.

* Change the definition of the field to specify a default value (used when the user does not supply the value) or change the field to be optional so that a value is not required.

So using your screenshot can you say which one element you want to be clicked ?

Clicking on "Add" button is working fine but when I enter the test "Update" in the textbox and click on Add the application says that there is no text in the textbox and treats as empty. In the screenshot you can see "Update" within the <textarea> tag. Though it appears to be there in the textbox while clicking it doesn't recognize the text and throws the error message. Hope I am clear with the clarification. Thanks for your generous help.

The Remedy tool recognizes if anything is typed manually in the textbox but fails to do the same if anything is pushed in via script. What could be the cause? Help plz
