qwert Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I've run upon the limit (7Mb?) on the total size of files I've attached to my posts on this forum. Is there a way to increase the available file space for my account? If not, what is the "best practice" for reducing what I've uploaded. I'll mention that I always try to include meaningful examples in the spirit of a picture is worth 1000 words. I feel that just deleting examples will diminish the usefulness of the content.
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted March 17, 2017 Moderators Posted March 17, 2017 @qwert upload size is limited to save Jon on space. I've run into this in the past as well, and have resorted to going to My Attachments and going through old posts to see what could be culled. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. qwert Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Thanks for your response. I just did what you said and was able to recover nearly a megabyte. The problem is that I didn't see much else to remove or modify. I try to keep attachments small and they average around 10 kilobytes. I'll try to get by, but maybe Jon will notice and possible grant long-time members something larger ... say, one megabyte per year. That would seem to be a good balance that would let content increase over time.
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted March 18, 2017 Moderators Posted March 18, 2017 Just remember, your 1MB/year (10MB in your case) times everyone on the forum who has been here longer than, say, 5 years, is going to add up to a lot of space (by my count, looking at the back-end and not sorting out any who have been removed, that number is just over 23,500) And if Jon wants to cut down on that and only give it to folks that have been here x number of years and are still active, it becomes an administrative headache I am sure he doesn't want. Who know, try being liberal with the donate button and see if you can convince him by helping to pay for it "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind.
