trying to select drop down option on web site

hello

i am trying to select a drop down option on a website with _IEFormElementOptionSelect but having some trouble.  I am able to get the object id correctly as i am able to consolewrite the value correctly.

;get object id
$incident_type_combo = _IEGetObjById($oIE, "arid_WIN_3_1000000099")

;test object id (i previously set a value manually to test)  - works so i know i got the obect id
ConsoleWrite("_" & $incident_type_combo.value & "_" & @CRLF)

;tried to set an option with these methods - not working
_IEFormElementOptionSelect($incident_type_combo, 0, 1, "byIndex")
;_IEFormElementOptionSelect($incident_type_combo, "User Service Restoration", 1, "byValue")
;_IEFormElementOptionSelect($incident_type_combo, "User Service Restoration", 1, "byText")

;this works but unsafe because other fields do not get fired OnChange the way the above functions would
$incident_type_combo.value = "User Service Restoration"

any help is greatly appreciated!

$oObject = Form Element Object of type "Select Option" (helpfile)
You might also try  _IEAction($oSelect, "focus")

... or post the whole concerned part of the html

didnt work =(

so ya this works 

$incident_type_combo.value = "User Service Restoration"

but dangerous because other fields do not get fired onChange

so just to re-cap...

this works (force setting the value of the combo)

_IEFormElementSetValue($incident_type_combo, "Performance", 1)

but because the combo option wasn't actually selected, it doesn't register as being selected when i submit the form

so im trying to get this to work but it doesn't

_IEFormElementOptionSelect($incident_type_combo, 1, 1, "byIndex")

this is the error i get

this is confusing because the _IEFormElementSetValue works so i have the right form element object but _IEFormElementOptionSelect doesn't work

I also tried the dom approach - no luck

Sorry but without access to this website it would be realy difficult as on first glance, I think this is not related to this INPUT tag.

But as I said, without access to the website I'm not entirely sure.

I'm confused.

You seem to ask for help selecting a dropdown option, yet the element you focus on is the text input affected by the select.

now this "arselmenu" tells me that some kind of js library is building a dropdown after the page loads. so unless we have the same page with the library and possible more code, we have no idea how and what affects what.

So either a link to the URL or save the page with CTRL+S in firefox or chrome. Create a zip file and add the files saved. Upload it.

My best guess without is that what is being generated is pure js controlled dropdown and might need to be triggered with javascript instead of the standard way for it to work.

i tried to save it but it doesn't load in neither IE nor chrome.  its an internal website so link wont work either..
