Curl, JSON and CouchDB sintax error

Hi all:

I have a small problem with Curl syntax to send a POST to a CouchDB database.

I want send this:

-H Content-type: application/json -X POST http://127.0.0.1:5984/test -d {"title": "pencil"}

but this code does not work:

$code ='curl.exe -H Content-type: application/json -X POST http://127.0.0.1:5984/test -d {"title": "pencil"}'
Run(@ComSpec & " /k " & $code,"",@SW_HIDE)

but to work I have to format the line like this:

$code = 'curl -H "Content-Type: application/json" -X POST "http://127.0.0.1:5984/test" -d "{\"title\":\"pencil\"}"'
Run(@ComSpec & " /k " & $code,"",@SW_HIDE)

my question is whether this is the most correct way to write the correct code using the additional signs "  and  \   or is there some other more elegant way to do the same.

That looks correct to me. Copy and paste the following code to your browser's console...

    title: 'pencil'
}
console.log(JSON.stringify(JSON.stringify(obj)));

In this way the code is much clearer and well structured.

What is not is how to use this code within a Autoit script, I guess it may need some UDF Json as OO_JSON.UDF

@Altor,

if you need to pass very elaborate input and/or process very elaborate output, then perhaps a JSON UDF is the best choice. but for a simple input as in your example, the easiest method is what you have already discovered: put it all in a Run().

Note #1: curl.exe is an external executable, so you do not need to use @comspec (unless /k for debugging is useful).

Note #2: when you put a JSON value, inside the HTTP content, inside a curl command-line switch, inside an AutoIt string... well, some non-standard escaping is inevitable. so yes, escape the double-quotes with a backslash. although prone to errors, for short input that is still the easiest way.

Thanks orbs for the recommendations.

More effectively with curl it seems simple but is a little confusing if in the same line of code you need to input 10 or more registers. In the example I just put one record for simplicity the code.

It seems that the solution is to go copy and pasting. The problem that you have to be very careful because if you let some character no works and i'll go crazy for seeking the error.

Would be wonderful there was an CouchDB UDF......but  I think it is not very popular bd system than others SQL bd.

I would rather do this in some Node application if I were you, because JSON is supported natively, plus search npm for CouchDB.

Ok guinnes, I did not know the  Node Package Manager and it seems a very interesting utility. I am going to study and I'll see if I can be helpful.
