jchd
I was tempted to drop a link to it but couldn't locate it quickly (honestly, I didn't search hard) and was worried it could be said that regexps are too complex to be practical. Still note that the equivalent AutoIt code using basic functions isn't exactly simpler nor easier to write, understand, debug and maintain. Regexps are just a handy tool, like your pocket swiss-army knife. You can definitely work without one but life is so often easier once you learn which blade/tool should be used for which purpose. Similarly, computer programs can be writen without using biwise or hex notation, just plain base-10 digits. It remains that using base-2, base-8 and base-16 is useful once you get it. Filesystem permissions in Unix-like OSes are still conveniently expressed in octal! Thomymaster
Hi Thanks a lot is used this regex for now "(?i)^" & $prefix & "\-\d\.jpg" But one last question, both .jpg and .JPG are matched what am i making wrong?
jchd
the (?i) part instructs the regexp engine to perform case-insensively. Remove it if you want to match jpg but not JPG. BTW why do you consider JPG extension as distinct from jpg? This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
