Getting rid of special characters

Hey fellas,

when I do StringMid and then have a msgbox show me the text string, it shows this: Sean O’Daniels.

On the site I'm grabbing the info from it shows: Sean O’Daniels.

I tried both of these and non replaces the charactes with an apostrophe:

$ArtistCorrected = StringReplace($Artist, '’', "'")
$ArtistCorrected = StringReplace($Artist, '’', "'")

EDIT: strange thing is that when I try to do it separately, when I actually spell out the name, it works:

$slovo = "O’Daniels"
$slovoUpdated = StringReplace($slovo, "’", "'")
MsgBox(1, "", $slovo & " / " & $slovoUpdated)

Works fine for me:

$sName = "Sean O’Daniels"

$sName = StringReplace($sName, '’', "'")

ConsoleWrite($sName & @CRLF)

Did you reassign the variable to the function return value?

I tried using a new variable for the name as well as the same one. Doesn't work.

When I make a separate script it works fine but when the text is grabbed from the url it doesn't replace it.

I even tried having a MSGbox showing the value before and after but the name never changes.

I believe this is Unicode \x{2019} so :

$Artist = StringRegExpReplace($Artist, "(*UCP)\x{2019}", "'")
