Hi,

This is my first question and l am a new in AutoIT scripting.

As any beginner I have started with reading some scripts and I found many developers use this form to assign a simple string to a variable:

$var = ("string").

Maybe it is a simple question but I would like really to know why especially when I tried to display the value of $var with MsgBox I found it a simple String.

There's no rational reason I can think of to use parentheses around a string in that way.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

@HermiM No reason, just outdated scripts :), Don't use it, It will only evaluate "string" once more (which isn't required)

Names, or that doesn't exist.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here

PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
