Cerena
Hi, I have automated a product installation using Autoit. However i would need to install the product in different virtual machines. I compiled the script to an .exe file and have passed on to my fellow colleagues. They could not edit the file and change the virtual machine name. Is it possible to edit a piece of code in the compiled script without installing Autoit in my colleagues machine?
Moderators Melba23 Posted November 30, 2015 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2015 Cerena,No. But you could recode the original file to take the virtual machine name as a command line parameter - that way your colleagues could all use the same executable and just adjust the calling line.M23 Cerena 1 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
mikell
Or you could provide an inputbox to allow entering the VM name when the program starts ... Cerena
TheSaint
Or if you want complete automation for more than one at a time, just store the names etc in something like an INI file that your EXE references. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted November 30, 2015 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2015 @ViciousXUSMC, the macro does work in a VM environment. I took from the OP that his techs would be pointing the script at a remote VM for install, hence needing to have some mechanism for inputting the VM name. If they are running the install script from within the VM then you are correct, they should be able to use the macro. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. ViciousXUSMC
@JLogan Ok, if that is the case I would go with the InputBox() idea rcmaehl
