Tray Icon - TraySetIcon doesn't work after creating custom tray menu

Hi All,

I have a custom icon for the tray menu icon, which was working until I copied in the example code for a custom menu when clicking on the tray icon, now it just displays the default AutoIt tray icon. The menu works fine, but the tray icon initiates as the AutoIt default icon and the icon won't change on event.

Can anyone advise what I need to do to use my custom icon while retaining the tray custom menu?

Also, the While 1 ... WEnd makes me nervous, how does this not lock up the system? If anyone would like to comment on that - thanks.

Put the TraySetIcon() code before the while loop as it's never reached.

Aha! That makes sense (rookie error), thank you guinness.

Ok, here's my next question then, I have a While loop that cycles every 2 seconds later in the script and repeats the same code indefinitely (obviously having 2 indefinite loops in 1 script is never going to work), so if I move the switch code into this While loop (instead of its own dedicated loop I had before) nothing seems to happen when I open the menu and click on "About" or "Exit". Is there a way of responding to these tray menu events?

So now it looks like the below, the icons are now working correctly and the custom menu pops up, but clicking on "About" or "Exit" in the menu does nothing but close the menu:

Sleep(250) has a weird delay, takes a random number of seconds for the msgbox to show up or the program to exit (timed a few attempts, some were 2 or 3 seconds, the longest was 17 seconds!) . I tried Sleep(100) and it had a delay of about 1 second. It wouldn't take very long to execute the code I currently have in the loop, it's pretty basic at this stage so I don't think that's causing the issue.

I'll have a look for tray event handlers, looks like the way to go, I've seen in the documentation "TraySetOnEvent", am I heading in the right direction?

Hey guys,

how do i proceed if i wanted to add these trayicons to my project?
Do i create a new function and load it? (results in my script not working anymore)
Do i paste it directly into my script? (results in exit beeing created with no function)

 

Sorry for the noobquestion.. spent hours trying to figure it out and didnt succeed
