TIDY - /sort_funcs - Long function names

Is there any limit in function name length for TIDY ?

I want to sort functions in this UDF {attachment removed - quota cleanup}

And I see that function named:

_QPDF_Example_Commercial_1.....

_QPDF_Example_Commercial_2.....

_QPDF_Example_Commercial_3.....

....

are not sorted correctly.

It currently takes the first 15 characters of the funcname for the sorting functionality, which is the reason why it doesn't change anything with your long func names.

I assume that this is related to the issue of performance.

I would like to propose a parameterization - parameter increases the number of analyzed characters.

Just an uneducated question: why limit the function name sort size at all? Unless I miss something big, coparing bare strings is faster than first chortening them then comparing the shortened strings, unless bare strings reach undecent sizes.

The reason for "some" limit is that I build an Array with sortrecords that contains a section number, Sectionname, funcname and original record number.

Each of these parts need to have the same length. It then sorts the array and then retrieve all record numbers in the newly sorted sequence.

Why this difficult approach?

I want to ensure we only sort Func's within a #Region and want to handle Comment sections between Functions in the proper way so they don't end up all together at the wrong spot.

I can probably easily change the length Tidy sorts on to e.g. 50 characters, but don't see yet an easy solution to make that unlimited in the current implementation.

Maybe using a multi-column sort instead of packing that in fixed-size records would definitely solve the issue.

Understand... It is currently an single array with a basic-self-programmed-shell-sort.

The current Tidy Beta v 14.801.2025.6 will take the first 65 characters of a func name which should be long enough for 99.99% of the functionnames I would hope
