Convert 2bytes to 4bytes - BitShift problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm having a one question

Is there a way to conver 2bytes data to 4bytes data?

I'm using BitShift($data, -16)

And for example for number 98 (in 2 bytes)

BitShift(98, -16) it gives 6422528, but it should give 6422676.

What i'm doing wrong? Thank you for your help!

Walrus.

I beg to differ:

ConsoleWrite(Hex(148) & ' ' & Hex(BitShift(148, -16)) & ' ' & BitShift(148, -16) & @LF)

But what makes you believe the result is incorrect?

ConsoleWrite(Hex(98) & ' ' & Hex(BitShift(98, -16)) & ' ' & BitShift(98, -16) & ' ' & 98 * 256 * 256 & @LF)

Cheat Engine (i'm using it only to get pointer for NoMadMemory UDF, but it having convert option)

Anyway BitShit(x, 16) isn't working correctly too, BitShift(6029479, 16) is giving 92, but in my (and CE) opinion, it should give 167.

Btw, is there a other way to check it? Is there a "moving bytes" calculator? I can't find it in google :/

Walrus,

Unsurprisingly, I get the same results as jchd for all of his tests. And as for your assertion that BitShift(x, 16) does not work either:

ConsoleWrite(Hex(6029479) & ' ' & Hex(BitShift(6029479, 16)) & ' ' & BitShift(6029479, 16) & ' ' & (5 * 16) + 12 & @LF)
I get:

005C00A7 0000005C 92 92
which looks pretty good to me.

I think you are doing something wrong with the CheatEngine "convert option". What exactly are you trying to manipulate?

If you are having Cheat Engine you can check it. I aren't trying to manipulate. I'm just having value from memory read in 4bytes, but i want convert it to 2bytes.

You can open single process, for example firefox, word, sciete, it dosen't matter, just find value in 4bytes, then change it to 6029479 and then change the adress type to 2bytes, you will get 167. (it is the convert option) I really don't know why :(

Walrus,

If CheatEngine returns 167 then it is simply removing the top word:

ConsoleWrite(Hex(6029479) & ' ' & Hex(BitAND(6029479, 0x0000FFFF)) & ' ' & (10 * 16) + 7 & @LF)
which gives:

005C00A7 000000A7 167
So it seems that you misunderstand the "convert option" and there is no problem with AutoIt at all.

And my question was actually: Why are you using CheatEngine?
