request to support PCRE case changing

AHK supports this and it sure would make case changes easier...

\l lowercase next char (think vi)
\u uppercase next char (think vi)
\L lowercase until \E (think vi)
\U uppercase until \E (think vi)

example:

StringRegExpReplace("this. that", "\. ([a-z])", ". \u1")
; returns: this. That

Unsupported escape sequences

In Perl, the sequences l, L, u, and U are recognized by its string handler and used to modify the case of following characters. By default, PCRE does not support these escape sequences. However, if the PCRE_JAVASCRIPT_COMPAT option is set, U matches a "U" character, and u can be used to define a character by code point, as described in the previous section.

I bet that AutoIt devs won't embark in forking their own variant of PCRE just to support these escapes.

Remember that in the replacement pattern only n and $n are supported.

i read that too, but it did say "by default" -- i don't know what that means, but i would wonder if PCRE would support these escapes simply by compiling with a different switch perhaps???

"By default" in this context means "in classic PCRE mode". You can switch to partial JavaScript compatibility mode by prepending (*J) to your pattern as mentionned at the bottom of the StringRegExp help page.

Also compile-time option would be "at pattern compile time" but since in AutoIt the PCRE calls are wrapped into an opaque function, all you can do is issue pattern-style options, like (*UCP) (*J) and such.
