I'll document the changes to this sometime this coming week. Unless @Jon approves of using Null as an error return, I'll stick with using False.

At the very least, it should probably be noted in the help file that the function only accepts integer types.

Infinity is not an integer nor a real value and it represents a failure here. Null can (should probably) be that value but it isn't used at all in std functions return values.

I would leave it as False, as this function should only return True or False, given that is the nature of the function. Adding a third "type" is pointless as @error can be used to determine if there was an "error" with the input values.

If that is the consensus then I'll go with it, even though I am still uncomfortable with this. It's such a shame that there isn't a third boolean: then there would be no doubt. Null has some favourable characteristics, but subroutines would need to be added to make it behave as an undefined boolean. I only know Kleene's 3VL logic, but there are other implementations. So False it remains.

You could return -1, 0 or 1, but that might be over complicating things.

I think the choice is False or Null. True would be okay as well. :blink:

Actually some expressions (-1^.5) return an undefined number: -1.#IND, which is analogous in some ways - strange as it appears.

After some reflection, I am of the opinion that this function should not be included in the next release. I don't see much point in creating script breaking changes to a superfluous function. Even if you know that the numbers are divisible, you may not be able to accurately do the division. See the first example in the following thread: https://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/173271-whole-number-division/

Removing the function is no more of a script breaking change than modifying the return values. Besides; if jchd says the function is ridiculous, then I feel obliged to not argue with him. :D It's nothing more than a wrapper for the Mod() function.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here
RegExp tutorial: enough to get started
PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
A work-in-progress SQLite3 tutorial. Don't miss other LxyzTHW pages!
SQLite official website with full documentation (may be newer than the SQLite library that comes standard with AutoIt)

I agree with you both. Just remember though when I removed _Iif() from the UDFs, which we can all agree is a wrapper for the ternary operator. My name was dragged backwards through the dirt!

I have read most the SVN thread in the MVP section. I can see that this will need some study. Because of my current 20 hour day, it's hard to squeeze out another half hour to deal with anything else. You may notice me posting at very perculiar hours of the day - often early in the morning - while everyone else can afford the luxury of sleep. Writing code that would normally take me a day or two is currently taking months. I understand that it is a big job and those involved could do with more of a helping hand. Paying my rent is my biggest priority at the moment.

Regarding this function - perhaps it should just be removed from the help file and left in the UDF (for backwards compatibilty) undocumented for the time being. I'll carry on as intended, but it really is a tortoise typing at this end. When the workload will ease off is hard to say: music is very time consuming. I think it's one of the hardest and most demanding occupations out there.

Two weeks leeway makes sense. I will have more time at some point. This is a busy time of year (generally), with preparing for projects due to start in September and completing my tax return. I hate doing accounts so much (not the maths - the paperwork) and wish I could just focus on the things I am good at. Anyway I just have to get on with it. Thanks for your understanding.
