Syntax check problem

When I try to re-compile an old script with v3.3.12.0 AutoIt, the syntax check shows the following error message:

---------->8----------------------------------------
            : error: missing separator character before keyword.
             $ax = $mailItem.To
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^
----------------------8<----------------------------
The error emerges with .Then, .In, and .Step members too.
Is it an error in the syntax check, or a new functionality? Are there any 'legal' way to circumvent it?
Welcome to the AutoIt Forum Varibobu. :)
Could you please post your script or a reproducer that gives you this error?
I'm not sure if it's one thing or the other, and posting the script could really help me understand what you are trying to accomplish. ;)
totally unrelated to the discussion here  and  I know this is the wrong place to place this.
but I'd like to have the Scite Editor to have more ".api" and ".property" added as it can be found here ( https://code.google.com/p/scite-files/wiki/Customization )
I wanted to use the same editor for JS , PHP, HTML, etc.,  and I had to go look for the files, ..as it is distributed by default, many are there but if it can be payed attention to in the future should not be much of a burden, and very much appreciated addition to have default. Thanks much.
Then you should download the Scite4AutoIt3 package, which includes all the tools needed for AutoIt3 as well as approximately 70+ properties files for other languages.
BTW, the developers of AutoIt3 aren't connected with the developers of SciTE other than using it as the default editor of choice. If there are any files you need to have in your installation of SciTE, then I'd suggest downloading them as needed.
If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator
