considdering changing to AutoHotKey

I've been using AutoIt for years, anyway, i wanted some better ways to debug my scripts, i wanted  a debugger.. stack trace, inspect variables, and most importantly, breakpoints & stepping,

seems like AutoIt doesn't have any of this. but seems like AutoHotKey does have (per http://fincs.ahk4.net/scite4ahk/pages/debugger.htm ), additionally, i don't have source code access to AutoIt, so there's not much i  can  about it either;

so... opinions?   also i wonder, is there any plans to make debugging tools for AutoIt? :o

@water yes, i found a few things like Debug.au3  , as for the script you suggested, it just gives this error when i try to run anything https://cdn.mediacru.sh/J7PNdA4OapT4.png , and im not sure how to fix that; also, it wouldn't surprise me if a debugger who's last release was in 2009, is not compatible with autoit versions of 2014 :o you know?  also, the AutoIt language doesn't seem that damn flexible; is the debugger reading this stuff from the interpreter's memory? :o (in which case i'd guess the debugger needs to be updated for each new build of the interpreter)

@Jos gotcha  :mellow:

Edit: nvm about the wrapper issue, found it at https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/scite/download/AutoIt3Wrapper.exe ; also, the debugger seem to work to some extent! :) (i wonder how it does that.. is there an AutoIt3.exe IPC API im not aware of or something? :o

After being a member and presumably used AutoIt for 6 years odd, I'd have also assumed you would not needed to ,and  thought that this and that "seemed" to be this, and "seemed" to be that.

A man of unmonkey like  autohotkey  brain puss would know one way or the other.

Please be, clear, honest, and precise.

@JohnOne - Have you been drinking again? I really struggled to understand what you wrote. :blink:

As for the OP, I advise what Jos said, for if AutoIt is not in your heart to the extent, that you really can't get along without a good debugger etc, then I expect it is time you moved on ... though be advised, AutoHotkey, does not have much respect in normal circles, especially in the corporate world (so I'm told). :thumbsdown:

Is that what you were trying to say JohnOne? ;)

Make sure brain is in gear before opening mouth!
Remember, what is not said, can be just as important as what is said.

No.

This is a troll is who, instead of asking for source code of AutoIt outright and straight, concocts some bullshit cry baby whine about how he's going to AutoHotkey instead because things "seem" to be this and that.

Things don't "seem" to be what they are, they are what they are, and if this weapon has been an AutoIt user for all those years he'd know that.

Instead he comes out with a heap of shit like that that, as though the owner is going to say "Okay then, I really value you as a free software leech, I wield to you debugging demands, and oh by the way, here's the source code".

Jackass.

Pretty laughable if you ask me (or don't).

I think I'll let JohnOne's words sink over you again. As, no one here owes or at this point wants to give you anything. :bye:
