You can tweak the connection string to make it simpler, but this connection string example uses a ODBC connection

    $sqlCon.Mode = 16 ; shared

    $sqlCon.CursorLocation = 3 ; client side cursor
    $sqlCon.Open ("DSN="&$ODBC&";UID="&$USERID&";Password="&$PASS&";DBALIAS="&$DBALIAS)

This might help finding the right connection string

the error function will give more details if you get errors so you can debug

 

Here is an example for MSsqlserver
