GUICtrlSetData Flikers Label

Hello, searched for this, but didn't got an answer on how i could avoid it.

Is there another way to do this without flickering?

Don't update it too often.

Store value just into variable, remember last set value in other helper value

and test if new value is different from lastly set value and use GUICtrlSetData() only if value is different.

Thank you for the sugestions, but i was looking for keeping the update rate, and the value is always changing, it's actually a timer, so it has to show the seconds going by..

Any other sugestions?

The other thing i was thinking was to use an input box instead of a label, maybe then, with a white background i wouldn't notice so much..

Thank you all, decreased the update rate, and it seems to almost solve it, (100ms) and not cause problems elsewhere.

I have found that using $WS_EX_COMPOSITED for the GUI seems to help reduce flicker. Don't ask me why. It's not perfect.

Updating a label more often than the user can read it is a waste anyway. 10 times per second (you said 100 ms) may still be too often, depending on what it is showing.

I have found that using $WS_EX_COMPOSITED for the GUI seems to help reduce flicker. Don't ask me why. It's not perfect.

Makes sense, gonna try to update it less often without changing the main loop sleep, timers maybe..

I like to use Adlibs for that, then you can easily control how often you want updates without using timers.

Example

GUICtrlCreateLabel("", 0, 0, 100, 30)

Local $iNumber = 0

;Change adlib time to change how often control is updated
AdlibRegister(_updatelabel, 500)

While GUIGetMsg() <> -3

You can use the ext. styles BitOR($WS_EX_COMPOSITED, $WS_EX_LAYERED) to avoid flickering, too.

Another way is to use GDI+ creating bitmaps which are copied to the label  / pic control.
