$ghGDIPDll not declared in resources.au3

I'm getting errors with resource.au3

"C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3\Include\resources.au3"(154,31) : warning: $ghGDIPDll: possibly used before declaration.
        $hImage = DllCall($ghGDIPDll,
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^
"C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3\Include\resources.au3"(154,31) : error: $ghGDIPDll: undeclared global variable.
        $hImage = DllCall($ghGDIPDll,

The line in resources.au3 is:

$hImage = DllCall($ghGDIPDll,"int","GdipCreateBitmapFromStream", "ptr",$pStream, "ptr*",0)

Includes are in order, with resources.au3 last.

If I add Global $ghGDIPDLL it has no errors, and the below check passes.

If Not _GDIPlus_Startup() Then

EndIf

I've tried uninstalling stable and installing it again.

I've searched all files in AutoIT for anything containing ghGDIPDll, and only resources.au3 was found. 

I think there should be a $ghGDIPDll=??.dll somewhere....

The example files included in the resources.zip are doing the same thing.

I've had no issues other than this udf.

Is there something wrong with Scite config?  I'm using portable. 

Is the image not showing for some other reason?

Is there another way to do it?

Should I update to the latest beta?

The variable has simply been renamed in the GDIPlus UDF, so look at the GDIPlus startup function for a variable similar in name. I am not currently in a position to check, but it's something like $g__hGDIPlusDll*.

It's $__g_hGDIPDll.

Before you start pointing fingers at the UDF developers for breaking scripts, this can not be constituted as a script breaking change as no where in the help file does it mention this Dll or it's usage. Ideally it shouldn't be used outside of the UDF, but people do (including myself).

Thanks guinness and Waubot,

Seems that other UDFs may also be affected such as <icons.au3>. I frequently use the _SetImage() function from <icons.au3> which also expects a global variable $ghGDIPDll ...

I try to avoid a search and replace in original UDFs as the next update would overwrite it again. Is there any other smart option to approach this issue?

If by "original UDFs" you mean those installed with AutoIt then you need not worry about them as they are all amended by the Dev team before release. ;)

If you are referring to UDFs you have downloaded from the forum (such as Icons.au3) there are 2 possibilities:

 

- 1. The UDF author realises that a change is needed and releases a new version of the UDF to match the new syntax, as I did with some of mine.

- 2. You must update the UDFs yourself. If you have them in a separate folder (see the Adding UDFs to AutoIt and SciTE tutorial in the Wiki) then it is a relatively simple search/replace operation. And leaving a gentle hint in the thread from which you downloaded the UDF should ensure that the next release is amended - if there is no future release then your amended version will never be overwritten. ;)

Yes, great answer, cleared my confusion :-) ... solved the problem.  

I presumed but wasn't 100% sure whether all the 'official' UDFs installed with AutoIt would all be crosschecked.  

As to other UDFs. I realise that I should store them separately - making it easier to maintain. Thanks for the "Adding UDFs to AutoIt and SciTE" hint.
