Shaitan
Hey there. I'm trying to write a simple installation script using Scite but it doesn't seem to work. What's wrong with the script below? Opt("WinWaitDelay", 100) Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 4) Opt("WinDetectHiddenText",1) Opt("MouseCoordMode",0) Run('C:AppzNotepadnpp.6.6.6.Installer.exe') I'm using Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64 Thanks! willichan
The script itself is fine, as long as 'C:AppzNotepadnpp.6.6.6.Installer.exe' exists. Have you double checked the path and file names? The Opt statements you have listed will not have any effect on the Run command. I assume you are including those for something else that will be added to the script later. You might want to read up on the WinTitleMatchMode option in the help file. The value 4 is for backwards compatability, so there might be a better value to use for your purposes. mLipok
@willichan is right. Try this: #include <MsgBoxConstants.au3> Opt("WinWaitDelay", 100) Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 4) Opt("WinDetectHiddenText",1) Opt("MouseCoordMode",0) Local $sFielFullPath = 'C:\Appz\Notepad\npp.6.6.6.Installer.exe' if FileExists($sFielFullPath) then Run($sFielFullPath) Else MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "Info", "File not exists", 10) EndIf mLipok ps. use code tags - read "How to post code on the forum" from my signature. BrewManNH
What's not working? Does the program not run? Do you get any errors? Have you checked to see if @error is set after the run command? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Shaitan
What's not working? Does the program not run? Do you get any errors? Have you checked to see if @error is set after the run command? The problem (VLC installer for instance) doesn't run at all with the script I wrote. I haven't tried to set @error but the Scite log shows no error

Shaitan
Thanks. It works perfectly with WinZip but I can't make it work with VLC, Trillian and some other softwares. Where can I find some kind of 'compilers' compatible list?
3jameo3
ive made it work with a few other softwares all you should need is the principal behind the winzip one to make it work ill get a vlc installer and test it out Shaitan
Shaitan
thanks a lot. Case you dont find a way I still can use a batch cmd file to launch VLC installer and then autoit to properly install it

Shaitan
Maybe its some new update issue since only a few application installer arent being launched by AutoIt and I use Windows 8 since its beta and never got any kind of problem. What runs in Win 7 runs smoothly in 8, at least here Thats ok, to launch the installers with a batch file is an easy workaround
3jameo3
i have an idea to make your workaround somewhat easier just have the bat run the script after opening the installer or vise versa have the script run the bat to open the installer then have it wait until the installer window activates etc
