mLipok
First you have two time info about "possibly used before declaration": >Running AU3Check (3.3.13.0) from:C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3 input:D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3 "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,55) : warning: $FW_MEDIUM: possibly used before declaration. GUISetFont((8.5 / GetDPI_Ratio($main_gui)), $FW_MEDIUM, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^ "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,101) : warning: $CLEARTYPE_QUALITY: possibly used before declaration. GUISetFont((8.5 / GetDPI_Ratio($main_gui)), $FW_MEDIUM, 0, "Segoe UI", $main_gui, $CLEARTYPE_QUALITY) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^ then you have info about "undeclared global variable." "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,55) : error: $FW_MEDIUM: undeclared global variable. GUISetFont((8.5 / GetDPI_Ratio($main_gui)), $FW_MEDIUM, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^ "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,101) : error: $CLEARTYPE_QUALITY: undeclared global variable. GUISetFont((8.5 / GetDPI_Ratio($main_gui)), $FW_MEDIUM, 0, "Segoe UI", $main_gui, $CLEARTYPE_QUALITY) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^ I think AU3Check checks script on the occurrence of these two different events in two different runs / functions. So I think this is expected. But the last word belongs not to me. mLipok EDIT: Two warnings and two errors about the same two issues. Is this to be expected? these are two different events but located in this same place. jaberwacky
OK, so AU3Check clearly demonstrates that the two variables are indeed undeclared. Au3Check thus throws two errors. Logically it should only follow that the warnings are redundant. These are two separate issues but closely related. mLipok
I was thinking about this. "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,55) : error: $FW_MEDIUM: undeclared global variable. GUISetFont((8.5 / GetDPI_Ratio($main_gui)), $FW_MEDIUM, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^ "D:\Programming\AutoIt\My Scripts\Testdisk GUI\GUI.au3"(29,101) : error: $CLEARTYPE_QUALITY: undeclared global variable. How Au3Check know this are Global/Local variable ? Ever, these two types of messages appear separately, ie one without the other ? Developers Jos Posted June 5, 2014 Developers Share Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Yes this is expected as au3check does one sequential pass through the code. The warning is when the actual statement is interpreted and the Error is a conclusion at the end. To simplify it: This triggers the warning and error for $B: $A = $B This triggers only the warning for $B $A = $B $B = 1 Jos Edited June 5, 2014 by Jos SciTE4AutoIt3 Full installer Download page - Beta files Read before posting How to post scriptsource Forum etiquette Forum Rules Live for the present, Dream of the future, Learn from the past. mLipok
Your explanation was the answer to my 3 questions. for the first and second question, I came to the conclusion: Au3Check not know this, but take into account that since there was no declaration within the function assumes that the programmer should presumably be a global variable. btw. I like both messages. Developers Jos Posted June 5, 2014 Developers Share Posted June 5, 2014 It isn't really irrelevant if people like these double Error/Warnings or not .... it is what it is as au3check doesn't understand Autoit3 script flows, so it interprets the code line for line and gives warnings (or error) it finds in lines, but at the same time builds a table of variables which it processes at the end to also spit out the Errors line shown. The "Global" in the error is maybe not always relevant and could be also "local" in some occasions, but again isn't that relevant. The only important thing is you are told that the Variable isn't declared at all.
