I have been vaping for a long time, since about 2009. Being a DIY nut I have built my own mods for most of that time, and have been making my own juice for most of the time as well. I started mixing my juice very un-scientifically, just eyeballing the nicotine level, adding flavoring without measuring......in other words, unsafely and imprecisely.

Then I started using pen and paper and figuring out the proper amounts of everything to use, but had to re-invent the wheel every time. After a while I started this app, it was very simple at first but was a help. Now I have enough information and nice features in this app that it is time to share.

To use the app, I suggest first setting your defaults for at least the base nicotine strength and bottle size, worry about prices later. Then make a new recipe, which mostly works off of percents. I personally use a dual coil sub-ohm atomizer so my nicotine is very low, 6mg/ml, I use 85% VG, and like my flavor to be strong, usually 10-15%. Once you set up the recipe and return to the main window you will be able to adjust the size of the batch, such as a 5ml sample to try out a new recipe or stick to your default once you are happy. Once you have the prices of your supplies entered in the defaults you will also see how inexpensive making your own liquid is - my most expensive blend is 64 cents for 10ml, if you can get that for less than $5 online then you got a steal!

It seems like all calculators I have tried to compare to mine give different values for the blends. I consider the nicotine strength to be the most important thing, so that is calculated first, followed by the amount of flavoring to add.

If you are a vaper I highly recommend you start making your own juice, just keep your nicotine levels low, get some proper graduated syringes, get high-quality nicotine that comes with lab certification of purity, and keep away from the old-school cigarettes!

Enjoy

Not a stupid question at all, Base Nicotine refers to the nicotine concentrate you are using.  I buy mine from http://www.nudenicotine.com because it is very high quality and includes a very detailed lab report focused on safety and purity, and I buy 100mg/ml concentration.  Nicotine at that level is highly toxic, I usually vape at 5 or 6mg/ml, my girlfriend is usually around 15mg/ml which is still in the medium range when looking at vendors online.

So to sum it up using the screenshot above, I wanted to make 10ml of eliquid at 5mg/ml nicotine, so I had to use half of a ml of 100mg/ml nicotine concentrate, or Base Nicotine as I phrased it.  I have seen unflavored base nicotine solution sold at 30mg/ml to as high as 1000mg/ml (pure), so it is extremely important to plug in to the program what concentration you are going to use in order to not get yourself a nasty headache.

Southern Maryland Computerguy - The End

I started 'vapin' not long ago, and I will probably buy juice for a while, but the 'DIY thing' (for anything) takes hold of me quicker than I expect it to.. Thanks for sharing this code, your script will I'm sure make the 'DIY thing' bite me a lot quicker..

I know, I find myself tearing things apart that I probably have no business working on, because what I don't know 1) gives me a chance to learn something new  2) gives me a chance to get "creative" and make something up on the fly  3) pretend to know what the heck I am doing!  My fave DIY project of all time - installing a $12 doorbell in my old Jeep and hooking it up to be a pushbutton starter, and rigging up 2 switches, one inside the Jeep to turn the accessory power on and off and another in one of the wheel wells to kill the battery power completely.  I know NOTHING about cars or their electrical systems and proudly showed off my handywork to a friend who was an electronics specialist for Ford and after a whole 2 seconds of looking under the hood he said, "I wouldn't have done it that way........"  HAHAHA

Anyway, another company I highly recommend for making your own eliquid is http://www.wizardlabs.com where you can buy very reasonably-priced flavor concentrates in a million flavors, then get some USP-grade vegetable glycerin and USP-grade propylene glycol (Amazon is fine, nothing special about those) and you are all set!  Again from the screenshot above, the cost to buy all of those items may be a lot up front, but the cost to make a batch of eliquid is VERY MUCH less than buying pre-made juice.

Enjoy
