replace username in profile path

I am trying to replace qwerty (or anything that is in that spot) with xavier - what am i doing wrong?

$new_user = "xavier"
$string = "c:\users\qwerty\test\deez"
 
$new_path = StringRegExpReplace($string, "c:\users\{?i)[\H]+\", "c:\users\" & $new_user)

I would use the StringSplit() function to isolate what I wanted to replace. I have several regex tutorials sites bookmarked, but regex is one thing that I haven't gotten myself to sit down and learn yet..

gets pretty messy though because the directories and usernames arent known ahead of time

only c:users___

I would use the backslash as the delimiter. There's alway going to be drive:users, right? Or maybe you mean that the user's name to be replaced might be in a subdir of users?

I just edited by removing the non-existent second anchor.

StringSplit() is just messy in situations likes this.

Well, here's my solution

    $b = StringReplace($String, "c:\users\" & $a[0] & "\", "c:\users\" & $new_user & "\")

MsgBox(0, "Result:", $b)

Ah, too much code for such a simple task. I would recommend anyone to spend time and effort on learning the basics of w and d. I am still learning regular expressions everyday.
