I`ve been looking at snippets of code to get the gamma setting, (I use Gamma Panel, but should work with any program) and auto-dim when its above a certain value, looks doable

2015 - Still no flying cars, instead blankets with sleeves.

Lakes, gamma setting stuff?  The 'Windows Dimmer' project works with the Gamma Ramp.  You could retrieve the Gamma Ramp values and I suppose try to make sense of it, or read the source code for projects like RedShift..  but I don't see how the value would change unless you are tweaking it manually. For every PC it defaults to the same values
