water Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 The latest Beta 5 version of the Excel UDF has been added to the repository and will be released with the next beta version of AutoIt. Do you miss any functions I removed from the "old" UDF (_ExcelSheetActivate etc.)? Do you miss functions to retrieve or set a range (e.g. the cells a user has selected etc)? Something else? Functions you miss can - if sensible - easily be added to the UDF at the moment. cag8f Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I'm happy to see that there are more Excel UDFs available. Will those listed on the Autoit website: http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/libfunctions/Excel%20Management.htm be updated? I've just seen reference to a couple of Excel UDFs from 2008-2009 (_ExcelCopy, _ExcelPaste), which are not on the current list (nor in the Excel UDFs that are installed with Autoit). So I'm just worried that I've been missing out on some functionality. Is the Autoit Excel UDF page kept up to date? Were the UDFs I saw from previous builds that have since been removed?
water Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 The rewritten Excel UDF will replace the current Excel UDF with the next beta release of AutoIt. Then the online docu will be updated as well. Functions _ExcelCopy and _ExcelPaste can be found in the new _Excel_RangeCopyPaste function of the new Excel UDF. The online docu you see now exactly describes the UDF that is part of AutoIt at the moment. cag8f Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Got it, thanks for all. One more noob question: how can/should I install this UDF for use right now? I don't think I should use the standard "Adding UDFs to AutoIt" instructions on the Autoit Wiki, as this UDF is a *replacement* for a currently installed UDF. Am I correct on that? If so, is there a page you can point me to that describes such an installation?
water Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 It's a replacement, correct, but for later AutoIt versions. Right now you can just rename it to whatever name you want (e.g. ExcelNew.au3) and add it to AutoIt as described in the Wiki. cag8f Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 OK, and last question: Is the Excel.au3 file the only file I'll need to add to Autoit? Or will I need to add all of the other functions in the zip file as well? Am I right that all of those functions are included in Excel.au3?
water Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 You only need two files: Excel.au3 and ExcelConstants.au3 All other au3-files are examples for the functions included in Excel.au3 My UDFs and Tutorials: Spoiler UDFs: Active Directory (NEW 2024-07-28 - Version 1.6.3.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki ExcelChart (2017-07-21 - Version 0.4.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts OutlookEX (2021-11-16 - Version 1.7.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki OutlookEX_GUI (2021-04-13 - Version 1.4.0.0) - Download Outlook Tools (2019-07-22 - Version 0.6.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki PowerPoint (2021-08-31 - Version 1.5.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki Task Scheduler (2022-07-28 - Version 1.6.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki Standard UDFs: Excel - Example Scripts - Wiki Word - Wiki Tutorials: ADO - Wiki WebDriver - Wiki

cag8f Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Hi me again. I appended "-new" to the end of each UDF filename and added them to Autoit per the instructions. But when I try to include one with the line: #include <Excel-new.au3> I get ~15 'undeclared variable' errors. One thing I noted was that Excelconstants-new.au3 includes Excel.au3. If I change the filenames of the UDFs, do I need to change this (and other) include lines to reflect that?
water Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Take Excel.au3 and ExcelConstants.au3 and store them so AutoIt can find them. Rename Excel-au3 to Excel-new.au3. No need to rename ExcelConstants.au3 Add "#include <Excel-new.au3>" to your script That's it. I've checked ExcelConstants.au3 but couldn't find an additional include. cag8f Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 OK I'm going to have a few questions as I attempt to learn the new functions. For example, with the new _Excel_RangeRead(), can I specify a cell via its row number and column number, like with the old _ExcelReadCell()?
water Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 No, you can't. The new UDF only supports A1 notation. To convert columns to letters and vice versa please use functions _Excel_ColumnToLetter and _Excel_ColumnToNumber My UDFs and Tutorials: Spoiler UDFs: Active Directory (NEW 2024-07-28 - Version 1.6.3.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki ExcelChart (2017-07-21 - Version 0.4.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts OutlookEX (2021-11-16 - Version 1.7.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki OutlookEX_GUI (2021-04-13 - Version 1.4.0.0) - Download Outlook Tools (2019-07-22 - Version 0.6.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki PowerPoint (2021-08-31 - Version 1.5.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki Task Scheduler (2022-07-28 - Version 1.6.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki Standard UDFs: Excel - Example Scripts - Wiki Word - Wiki Tutorials: ADO - Wiki WebDriver - Wiki
