Please check that, as I am getting mixed results now.

EDIT

I have not been able to figure it out, but believe it has to do with the HTML code with the line cid:

It appears, and please correct me if I am wrong, but when you use other tags in that line of code i.e. <p> <br> </p>, the spaces in the file name does not affect the image from being embedded, but if you remove the tags, and leave a space, then you will not see the image.

On a further note...if I am sending an email with these functions, and my outlook is set to send signature with both replies and new emails - should they not show up when sending? I have also tried to show the signatures I already have - one only. And I cannot seem to get that to show anything but numbers. I have also tried to use the signature with the name I have in outlook, but it errors saying no signature was created - do I have to use these functions to create another signature?

Thanks again, and sorry for the late response.

And I cannot seem to get that to show anything but numbers.

Do you get no signature at all or an invalid one?

No signature. The array comes back with [0][x] with 1,3,'' as the values.

I seem to have an issue with where to put that wiki code exactly...meaning how do I add attachments and my body?

If I set that code:

$oItem = _OL_ItemCreate($oOL, $olMailItem, "", "", "Subject=Subject for BodyFormat=HTML")
$oItem.BodyFormat = $olFormatHTML
$oItem.GetInspector
Local $sBody = $oItem.HTMLBody
$oItem.HTMLBody = $sBody ; "HTML: <b>Mail</b> Text" & $sBody
;$oItem.Display

Then the sig shows, but after I add my attachments, either the sig is missing links, or the sig is not there. I am using the code that you so kindly shared before:

#AutoIt3Wrapper_AU3Check_Parameters= -d -w 1 -w 2 -w 3 -w 4 -w 5 -w 6
#AutoIt3Wrapper_AU3Check_Stop_OnWarning=Y

#include <OutlookEX.au3>
Global $sSubject = "Test"
Global $iBodyFormat = $olFormatRichText
Global $sBody = "TestBody"
Global $sTo = ""
Global $sAttachments = ""

Global $oOL = _OL_Open()
If @error <> 0 Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "Error creating a connection to Outlook. @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)

; Access the default outbox folder
Global $aFolder = _OL_FolderAccess($oOL, "", $olFolderDrafts)
If @error Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "FolderAccess: @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)

; Create a mail item in the default folder
Global $oItem = _OL_ItemCreate($oOL, $olMailItem, $aFolder[1], "", "Subject=" & $sSubject, "BodyFormat=" & $iBodyFormat)
If @error Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "ItemCreate: @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)

; Set the body according to $iBodyFormat
If $iBodyFormat = $olFormatHTML Then
    _OL_ItemModify($oOL, $oItem, Default, "HTMLBody=" & $sBody)
Else
    _OL_ItemModify($oOL, $oItem, Default, "Body=" & $sBody)
EndIf
If @error Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "ItemModify: @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)

; Add recipient
Global $aRecipients
$aRecipients = StringSplit($sTo, ";", 2)
_OL_ItemRecipientAdd($oOL, $oItem, Default, $olTo, $aRecipients)
If @error Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "RecipientAdd: @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)

; Add attachments
If $sAttachments <> "" Then
    Global $aAttachments = StringSplit($sAttachments, ";", 2)
    _OL_ItemAttachmentAdd($oOL, $oItem, Default, $aAttachments)
    If @error Then Exit MsgBox(16, "OutlookEX UDF", "AttachmentAdd: @error = " & @error & ", @extended = " & @extended)
EndIf

; Display item
$oItem.Display

; Send mail
; _OL_ItemSend($oOL, $oItem, Default)
; If @error Then Return SetError(@error + 6000, @extended, 0)

_OL_Close($oOL)

thanks again for any help

Unfortunately I'm on vacation right now and won't have access to a computer with Outllok for about 10 days.

The problem with the sig is that it is added when the item is being created. So to save the sig you need to insert my code before changing the body of the mail.

When you get back, I would like to look at this again.

In the mean time, I just created a HTML file that has the signature in it, and added that to the body of the email - not the cleanest, but working for now.

The problem I have is that my signature has links in it, as well as images...I could never get the images to show up.

I tried high and low but was not able to find a solution for your "space" problem. Seems with Outlook it only works when there is no space in the filename.

I have searched as well, and for the most part everywhere I looked, they said not to use spaces in images on html pages...as this is sort of that case, I guess we should append the documentation to state that images that are going to be attached need to have no spaces.

I even went as far as trying things like '%20' but that also did not work...thanks for looking too.

I guess I should have added these two quotes together, as I see there is an option now for that, but anyways...

I have used your code to use the existing signature that was already in Outlook. The problem is, if I leave just the signature, it comes out fine - i can even get text to show up correctly. But if I add an attachment with the email and signature together, the images that were part of the signature have been replaced with the RED X - same type of RED X that we seen in the space in the file name above. But why would this show up correctly before adding attachments and then show of the without the images on the link if attachments are used?

Do you attach the same files (same name and maybe different path) to your mail as you use in your signature?

Do you attach the same files (same name and maybe different path) to your mail as you use in your signature?

Not sure I understand what you are asking...I have two attachments that I have to add to the email. When I create the email with just text and the signature or just the signature by itself, the signature shows up just fine - with all the images from the signature where they are supposed to be. When I use the same files to attach (different file names for only one file and it is in the root where the script runs, and the same content for the other file each time (different file name, in the same folder each time), the signature shows up, but the images that were part of the signature are missing and replaced with the RED X.

I just thought you might use the same picture in your signature and as an attachment (maybe taken from different directories).
Like: @ScriptDir & "\logo.jpg" and @ScriptDir & "\Logos\logo.jpg"

But best would be a small reproducer script so I can test here.

The pictures are not in the same directories - the images that are in the sig are on the internet (URL LINKS). The attachments are screen shots that need to be sent out, but having the signature with email is key, and those attachments are in two different directories, but I am not have issues (as long as there are no spaces) with the attachments.

I will try to create an example script, but with your signature and mine being totally different, and mine also contains 3 links (images), 1 just image, one email link, and one company link, I do not know how you will see what I am seeing, but I will try to reproduce it for you. Thanks for your help and will get back to you.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm having problems with _OL_Open().

It works great on my dev machine (Win7 Home 64bit), compiled or just running the au3.

When I try to compose an email with same script on other Win7 machine I get this error while executing $oOL = _OL_Open().

"Error returned by _OL_Open: " 1 ", @extended: " & -2147221164

I don't understand the extended error message. :(
