Automating via AutoIt

Hello friends.

Check if InternetExplorer is opened or not if not opened open Internet Explorer.

and make the default home page to www.autoitscript.com.

What's the easiest and straight forward way to do that ?

Thunderbird is an email client, how would you go about setting the home page for email? If you just want to open Thunderbird, use Run() or ShellExecute().

What to Thunderbird once took a set of features.

So i should take it this way.

AutoIt will work great with windows built in Application only.

Like opening notepad typing something in it and saving it. ( i have done that long time ago and really enjoyed).

Now when it came to real application it's tough.

Acutally i would like to update thunderbird's Addressbook using AutoIt.

1 ) Opening Thunderbird

2) Clicking on Tools->Addressbook Synchronizer

3) Typing the path for addressbook , localserverpublicAddressbook

4) Click Update.

Is that possible with AutoIt ?

lexicon, Mozilla Thunderbird (and a whole bunch of other programs) can probably be automated with the UI Automation framework.

You should spend 5 minutes to download the two UDFs in the bottom of first post and the code in the "Simple spy demo" codebox in the middle of first post.

Run (double click, no need to compile) the "Simple spy demo". To verify that a control can be identified place the mouse cursor over the control and press Ctrl+w. You can see an example >here.
