Runner Posted January 4, 2014 Share Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) Hi, Could someone please help me understand window's 'handle' that is returned in the following code: ; Testing GUIGetMsg advanced GUICreate("Test",200,200) GUISetState() while 1 $msg = GUIGetMsg(1) ;1 = returns an array ConsoleWrite($msg[1] & @LF) ;#3 Sleep(100) WEnd Line 7 returns values in the console of either 0x00000000 or 0x00140528 (and as I have already found out never the same number twice). I'm trying to understand what's going on in the "background" of windows? Is the value returned stored somewhere? Is the value a random number? I ran it a couple of time and it's a different value each time. Are most programmers not interested in the actual value? And is this value the event number? My learning curve is steep so please keep answers simple. Anyone's two cents worth is welcome it may help with a question I may not have thought of. BrewManNH Posted January 4, 2014 Share Posted January 4, 2014 The help file explains exactly what that value is. The [1] element of the returned array is the GUI's handle (what GUICreate returns). This is used to determine which GUI is sending the message to the function at the time. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise.
